\n Passengers aboard an Allegiant Air plane reacted in disbelief when a man was kicked off the flight after app<\/a>arently telling a flight attendant to wear a face mask, according to a report.<\/p>\n

\u201cI just asked somebody to put on their face mask,\u201d the man is heard saying Monday in a viral video shot by a fellow passenger on the tarmac in Punta Gorda, Florida, News<\/a>week reported.<\/p>\n

The footage shows an airline employee \u2014 who is wearing a mask \u2014 repeatedly telling the man, whom she refers to as \u201cMr. Peterman,\u201d to get off the plane.<\/p>\n

\u201cEither you come off or I get the law enforcement,\u201d she tells him to the amazement of other passengers.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou are totally wrong,\u201d one flier says to the woman. \u201cThis is ridiculous,\u201d says another.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m just doing what I\u2019m supposed to do,\u201d the employee says impatiently.<\/p>\n

The man asks the other passengers, \u201cWhy don\u2019t you all get off with me?\u201d He then asks to speak with the captain \u2013 to no avail.<\/p>\n

\u201cCaptain, can I have a word with you please before I get kicked off? I just asked someone to put on their face mask. That\u2019s all I did,\u201d he says.<\/p>\n

An Allegiant rep told The Post in an email that the \u201cpassenger became disruptive during the pre-flight safety briefing. Following the announcement, the passenger persisted in making threatening statements to the flight attendant, to the point of harassment.\u201d<\/p>\n

The spokeswoman added that \u201cinterfering with a crew member is a violation of FAA regulations.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cCustomer and crew safety is paramount. \u2026 as the disruptive behavior continued, the decision was made to deplane the passenger. He was re-accommodated to a later flight,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

In a statement to Newsweek, Allegiant said the pre-flight safety briefing \u201cincludes reiteration of our inflight face-covering policy.\u201d<\/p>\n

The airline told the mag that \u201cthe flight attendant giving the safety briefing lowered their mask for speaking into the PA so the briefing could be understood.\u201d<\/p>\n

The brief lowering of her face covering is what caused the passenger to be \u201cdisruptive,\u201d Allegiant added.<\/p>\n

Like many other carriers, Allegiant has a mask policy that requires all travel<\/a>ers to keep their face coverings on \u201cduring all phases of travel, including at the ticket counter and in the gate area, as well as during the duration of the flight,\u201d the airline told Newsweek.<\/p>\n

According to its website, \u201cAll crew members are required to wear a face-covering at all times and gloves during inflight service.\u201d<\/p>\n

Allegiant has received multiple complaints from customers who complained that employees either don\u2019t wear masks or wear them incorrectly.<\/p>\n

\u201c@Allegiant how am I supposed to feel safe flying when my chatty Kathy flight attendant isn\u2019t even wearing her mask properly and keeps taking it off?!? Safety first or last\u2026?\u201d Twitter<\/a> user @jesscacaroline posted.<\/p>\n

\u201cDear @Allegiant, if you\u2019re going to tell people to wear masks on your flights, ya better have your flight attendants enforce it. We\u2019re in a freaking pandemic,\u201d @NerdCaptnHaley wrote.<\/p>\n

In a Sept. 2 post, Allegiant wrote: \u201cWe earned the highest score for COVID-19 traveler safety in a recent ranking of North America\u2019s airlines! Safe Travel Barometer conducted the independent audit, evaluating more than 150 airlines.\u201d<\/p>\n

In response, @ruirish01 wrote: \u201cThat surprises me after my recent trip where I witnessed the flight attendant wear her mask below her nose for much of the flight.\u201d\n <\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
