The European Space Agency (ESA) commissioned the vehicle to increase launch capacity, but the plans have been beset by painful delays. The first flight is now four years behind schedule.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>These setbacks have been compounded by problems with the Vega launch system. France\u2019s ArianeGroup<span>, which<\/span><span> built the vehicle, will lead subsequent flights.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The company said that <span>30 missions are already in the order book. It plans<\/span> to <span>make a second launch by the end of 2024 and eventually complete around 10 a year.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Martin Sion, the CEO of ArianeGroup, heralded the maiden flight as a breakthrough for Europe.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cIt will pave the way for commercial operations and a significant ramp-up over the next two years,\u201d he said. \u201cAriane 6 is a powerful, versatile and scalable launcher that will ensure Europe\u2019s autonomous access to space.\u201d<\/span>\n                        <\/div>\n<blockquote><p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">If you liked the article, do not forget to share it with your friends.
