The world of Peaky Blinders<\/em> will return, and its star will be on board. Netflix has officially greenlighted a follow-up movie, and Cillian Murphy will star in it, reprising his role as Tommy Shelby.<\/p>\n

Murphy, Helen McCrory, Paul Anderson, Sophie Rundle, Finn Cole, Kate Phillips, Natasha O\u2019Keeffe, Aidan Gillen, Jack Rowan, Charlie Murphy, Kingsley Ben-Adir, Harry Kirton, Packy Lee, Ned Dennehy, Ian Peck, and Benjamin Zephaniah star in the original series<\/a> which aired for six seasons. The Peaky Blinders<\/em> series, set between 1919 and 1934, follows an Irish mob family in Birmingham. Details of the plot of the film are being kept under wraps.<\/p>\n

Murphy said the following about returning for the sequel film, per TUDUM<\/a>:<\/p>\n

\u201cIt seems like Tommy Shelby wasn\u2019t finished with me. It is very gratifying to be recollaborating with Steven Knight and Tom Harper on the film version of Peaky Blinders<\/em>. This is one for the fans.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Creator Steven Knight also spoke about continuing the story. He said, \u201cI\u2019m genuinely thrilled that this movie is about to happ<\/a>en. It will be an explosive chapter in the Peaky Blinders<\/em> story. No holds barred. Full on Peaky Blinders at war.\u201d Knight has written the script.<\/p>\n

Tom Harper, who directed episodes of the show\u2019s first season, will direct the new film. \u201cWhen I first directed Peaky Blinders<\/em> over 10 years ago, we didn\u2019t know what the series would become, but we did know that there was something in the alchemy of the cast and the writing that felt explosive,\u201d Harper said. \u201cPeaky<\/em> has always been a story about family \u2014 and so it\u2019s incredibly exciting to be reuniting with Steve and Cillian to bring the movie to audiences across the world on Netflix.\u201d<\/p>\n
