This could limit the precision and reach potential for certain ad campaigns.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The backdrop.<\/strong> LinkedIn first launched Groups in 2010 to connect users with shared interests, later doubling down on the feature within its main <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a> from 2018 onwards.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Curbing concerns. <\/strong>While maintaining its practices complied with DSA rules, LinkedIn has now proactively removed the ability for advertisers to \u201ccreate an advertising audience\u201d in Europe using Group membership data.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The official line.<\/strong> \u201cWe made this change to prevent any misconception that ads to European members could be indirectly targeted based on special categories of data or related profiling categories.\u201d as noted on the <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/pulse\/welcoming-digital-services-act-patrick-corrigan\/\">LinkedIn post<\/a> from Patrick Corrigan, LinkedIn VP for legal and digital safety.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Regulatory reaction.<\/strong> \u201cThe Commission will monitor the effective implementation of LinkedIn\u2019s public pledge to ensure full compliance with the DSA\u2026It is positive to see the DSA delivering change that no other law has attained so far, in Europe and beyond.\u201d Thierry Breton, EU Internal Market Commissioner in their <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/commission\/presscorner\/detail\/en\/STATEMENT_24_3172\">official statement<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The bigger picture.<\/strong> <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2024\/06\/07\/linkedin-to-limit-targeted-ads-in-eu-after-complaint-over-sensitive-data-use\/?guccounter=1\"> LinkedIn\u2019s voluntary move<\/a> comes as its parent Microsoft already faces regulatory headwinds in Europe.
