It\u2019s the end of an era for the All American<\/em> series<\/a>. Daniel Ezra, the original star of The CW drama series, will not be a series regular in the upcoming seventh season. The show has followed Ezra\u2019s Spencer James character since it debuted in October 2018.<\/p>\n

The drama series stars Ezra, Michael Evans Behling, Samantha Logan, Greta Onieogou, Bre-Z, Chelsea Tavares, Cody Christian, Mon\u00e9t Mazur, and Karimah Westbrook. In season one, Spencer\u2019s journey began at Beverly Hills High School, but he and his friends are now college students preparing to graduate and hopefully enter the NFL.<\/p>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

In last night\u2019s episode, Spencer was drafted to the NFL, and then viewers saw a time jump with his character playing in the Super Bowl and proposing to his girlfriend, Olivia. The final two installments of the season, which were added to the episode order in April, will revolve around their wedding. The door is being left open so that Ezra can make guest app<\/a>earances in season seven.<\/p>\n

Ezra said the following in a statement, per Deadline<\/a>:<\/p>\n

\u201cAfter making the difficult decision to leave All American<\/em>, my sole focus became completing the journey of the most life-affirming character I\u2019ve ever played in the manner he deserves. Thanks to Nkechi and the writers, I got my wish. Season six is \u2018Spencer\u2019s goodbye.\u2019 I\u2019ll miss him. I\u2019ll miss our cast and crew. I hope it\u2019s been as fun to watch him as it has been to play him.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Showrunner Nkechi Okoro Carroll also spoke about Ezra\u2019s exit. He said, \u201cPartnering with Daniel Ezra over the last six seasons to bring Spencer\u2019s story to life has been such an amazing, fulfilling, experience. Daniel truly is a gift and brought so much to the character on and off the field. And while Spencer has achieved his NFL dreams, I\u2019m grateful Daniel will still remain an important part of this family, both in front of and behind the camera as we step into a new, exciting chapter of All American<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n

The CW has already renewed the series for a seventh season for 2024-25, and the story will likely focus on a mix of existing and new characters. The premiere date for season seven of All American<\/em> will be announced later.<\/p>\n
