noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/sexweek.bandcamp.com\/\">Sex Week<\/a>, have a playlist for every occasion. \u201cOkonomi\u201d is one they made inspired by their favorite Japanese breakfast spot in Williamsburg. Another one was drafted for the drive upstate to pick <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>les together. <\/p>\n<div class=\"\" style=\"padding-bottom: 20px; margin-top: 20px; text-align: left;\">\n<\/div>\n<p>            Naturally, there is a Sex Week playlist designed to set the tone for their work together, gothic and folky songs that show a clear love of both Judee Sill and Xiu Xiu. Scrolling through an endless list of influences, they pull out everything from Beyonc\u00e9 to \u201cSummer Lovin\u201d from the <i>Grease<\/i> soundtrack. Perhaps something featuring their fellow indie rock pals would be a little more instructive: Brooklyn-based artists Babehoven, Bloomsday, H. Dickson made \u201cColorado 2 Omaha\u201d for her friend Allison to keep her company on the 600-mile trek. It included songs by Liz Phair and Wolf Alice as well as <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=IPrKLqNAsSY\">\u201cWhen Love and Death Embrace\u201d<\/a> by the Finnish goth rockers HIM. When Allison returned home she played it constantly in the apartment she shared with Orofino. He was making music under his own name at the time and had never met his soon-to-be bandmate. \u201cI was obsessed with it,\u201d he says of the mix. \u201cSpecifically, that song by HIM, which is so funny because they&#8217;re this Bam Margera kind of dad rock band.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>            Eventually, Dickson made her way to New York from Los Angeles, where she had been working as an actress in TV shows including <i>Yellowjackets<\/i> and <i>The Girl From Plainview<\/i>, and met Orofino. She remembers their first meeting as being something of a confessional. \u201cI was like, &#8220;I have a secret. I&#8217;m kind of a fan [of your music].&#8221; And he replied, &#8220;I have a secret too. Dickson, however, had never made music before. To hear them talk about it, Orofino showed her how to be a musician and she showed him how not to be, in the best ways possible. <\/p>\n<p>            \u201cI think I went about songwriting in a way that starts to feel like a blueprint,\u201d he says. \u201cPearl would just say, &#8220;No, it should just be like this [other way].\u2019 I\u2019d think, \u2018I can&#8217;t write like that. That&#8217;s just not me.\u2019 But it&#8217;s not true. There&#8217;s no rules and you can do whatever you want.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"\" style=\"padding-bottom: 20px; margin-top: 20px; text-align: left;\">\n<\/div>\n<p>            <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=xeNa_W0qe3I\">\u201cToad Mode,\u201d<\/a> the first song they finished together, was inspired by Allison\u2019s cat. \u201cHe weighs about 15 pounds and is super confident,\u201d Orofino says. \u201cHe has a real swagger and loves to bite you on the chin as a sign of affection. We called that going toad mode\u201d The song nails the Sex Week dynamic im<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">media<\/a>tely. It\u2019s sweet and tender, a little silly almost, but with an uncanny feeling that feels borderline unsettling. \u201cShe bites my hands, My arms, my pants,\u201d they sing in harmony as a sample of Toad meows in the background. \u201cShe&#8217;s got big plans.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>            The song appears on the band\u2019s first EP <i>Sex Week<\/i>, due August 30, alongside the previous single \u201cAngel Blessings,\u201d which leans into the band\u2019s taste for discomfort in more explicit fashion. What starts out as a pretty song about dedication and commitment slowly starts to descend into a haze of black metal screams. The song decomposes until its flesh has peeled off and all that\u2019s left is a bloody carcass. It feels like being haunted in real-time.  <\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"content_block paragraph triple_gutter_right triple_gutter_left\">\n<div class=\"content_inner_wrapper\">\n<div class=\"\" style=\"padding-bottom: 20px; margin-top: 20px; text-align: left;\">\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<style>\n<\/style>\n<div id=\"content_block-262387\" class=\"content_block breaker triple_gutter_right triple_gutter_left embed\">\n<div class=\"media_wrapper\">\n<div class=\"\">\n    <iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Sex Week - Angel Blessings\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Dky-f9uvQ6A?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<style>\n<\/style>\n<div id=\"content_block-262388\" class=\"content_block paragraph text triple_gutter_right triple_gutter_left center_align\">\n<div class=\"content_inner_wrapper\">\n<div class=\"paragraph_wrapper center_align\">\n<p>            Body horror fascinates Orofino and Dickson, whose video for new song \u201cCockpit\u201d takes direct influence from the genre\u2019s godfather, David Cronenberg. Throughout the EP Dickson uses language that is messy in a way that would leave a gross stain on your clothes. \u201cSlaughtered lambs,\u201d \u201ccat litter,\u201d \u201cinnards,\u201d and \u201cmushy mold\u201d are all go-to references. There are multiple mentions of \u201crotting\u201d that run through the songs. \u201cCockpit\u201d opens with the line \u201cSlipping out of my muck.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>            Dickson laughs when this is pointed out and admits she considered changing some lines, \u201cbut I was like, &#8220;Fuck, they all fit.&#8221; Sex Week, like Cronenberg classics <i>Scanners<\/i> and <i>Videodrome<\/i>, presents a form of blood-soaked beauty. Dickson says a line on \u201c\u2018Angel Blessings\u201d [\u201cIt&#8217;s poured into my chest cavity\u201d] is \u201csuch a weird way of putting it, but to me it&#8217;s so fun\u201d Instead of just saying, &#8220;I have you in my heart,&#8221; it&#8217;s a different image. That&#8217;s the way I look at and receive music.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"\" style=\"padding-bottom: 20px; margin-top: 20px; text-align: left;\">\n<\/div>\n<p>            Beneath the gloop and ooze of the EP is a big heart, with songs that specifically address the pair\u2019s tight-knit bond. \u201cCockpit\u201d was written on a <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/trip-and-travel\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"10\" title=\"Trip &amp; Travel\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">trip<\/a> Orofino took to see Dickson while she was away working in Georgia. \u201cSoaking up your smell. What if we meld into one single cell?\u201d they sing together. It\u2019s a typical Sex Week idea: Dreamy and sicko at the same time.<\/p>\n<p>            \u201cIt feels really good to find someone that understands what you want to create and how to go about it,\u201d Orofino says when asked what being in Sex Week means to him. Dickson thinks back to their early days together for her answer. \u201cWhen we first met we kept having these intense moments.
