\n NYPD Commissioner Dermot Shea said Tuesday he was \u201cdisappointed\u201d that Sergeants Benevolent Association president Ed Mullins called City Councilman Ritchie Torres a \u201cfirst-class whore\u201d last week.<\/p>\n

Mullins fired off the scathing tweet Friday afternoon after the lawmaker called for an investigation into a possible NYPD slowdown.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe[sic] we go America this is what a first class whore looks like RITCHIE TORRES,\u201d he wrote. \u201cPasses laws to defund police, supports criminals, & now because he\u2019s running for office he blames the police to protect what he voted for. Remember Little Ritchie? Meet LYING RITCHIE.\u201d<\/p>\n

The tweet has since been deleted.<\/p>\n

Torres fired back at the SBA, calling it \u201ca bona fide hate group masquerading as a union.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe racism, misogyny, and homophobia of Ed Mullins gives [President Trump] a run for his money,\u201d he wrote online.<\/p>\n

Torres has publicly called for Mullins\u2019 resignation. When Shea was questioned about his thoughts on that call on 1010 WINS on Tuesday morning, he kept relatively mum but said he wasn\u2019t happy with the union head\u2019s choice of words.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat I\u2019ll say is, and I don\u2019t want to say too much right now \u2014 I\u2019m disappointed,\u201d the top cop said. \u201cI don\u2019t think anyone should be using language of that type, whether it\u2019s at a press conference, whether it\u2019s \u2014 quite frankly \u2014 in person or whether it\u2019s on social media<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI think we\u2019re better than that,\u201d he added. \u201cI think all sides can do a lot better than that and it\u2019s not going to get us where [we need] to go.\u201d<\/p>\n

Torres, a Democratic candidate to replace retiring Rep. Jos\u00e9 Serrano in New York\u2019s 15th Congressional District, and Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams have called for an investigation into the potential police slowdown amid 14 straight weeks of surging gun violence.<\/p>\n

Shea told 1010 WINS he would \u201cwelcome\u201d such a probe, adding, \u201cLet\u2019s see where that leads.\u201d<\/p>\n

As he has done in the past, the commissioner blamed cuts to the NYPD\u2019s budget for the rising shooting numbers.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s politics,\u201d Shea said. \u201cYou cut the budget, you take all the cops off the street and then you wonder why it takes longer for cops to get to jobs? I mean, New Yorkers are a lot of things, but they\u2019re not dumb, and New Yorkers know exactly what is going on.\u201d\n <\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
