The upcoming Dexter<\/em> prequel series<\/a>, Dexter: Original Sin<\/em>, has added another big name to its cast. Sarah Michelle Gellar is joining the previously cast Christian Slater, Patrick Gibson, and Molly Brown on the Paramount+ with Showtime series.<\/p>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

Per THR<\/a>, Gellar will have a \u201cspecial guest star role as Tanya Martin, the CSI chief at the Miami Metro Police Department and Dexter Morgan\u2019s new boss.\u201d<\/p>\n

Nina L. Diaz,\u00a0president of content and CCO, Showtime, said the following about the casting:<\/p>\n

\u201cSarah Michelle Gellar is a pop culture icon who perfectly rounds out our best-in-class cast featuring\u00a0Christian Slater and Patrick Dempsey among others. We\u2019re thrilled to have her return to the Showtime\/MTV Entertainment Studios family and join the origin story of the\u00a0Dexter\u00a0franchise.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Set in 1991 Miami, Dexter: Original Sin<\/em> follows Dexter (Gibson) as he transitions from student to avenging serial killer. When his bloodthirsty urges can\u2019t be ignored any longer, Dexter must learn to channel his inner darkness. With the guidance of his father, Harry (Slater), he adopts a Code designed to help him find and kill people who deserve to be eliminated from society without getting on law enforcement\u2019s radar. This is a particular challenge for young Dexter as he begins a forensics internship at the Miami Metro Police Department.<\/p>\n

The premiere date for Dexter: Original Sin<\/em> will be announced later.<\/p>\n
