\n A PETA protester interrupted the Twisters<\/em> premiere in Los Angeles on Thursday as the cast and director were about to introduce the film to the audience.<\/p>\n

\n A staffer for The Hollywood Reporter<\/em> inside the theater said the demonstrator ran down the aisle and rushed the stage as stars Daisy Edgar-Jones and Glen Powell and director Lee Isaac Chung stood in front of the crowd. The person was also seen in videos shared on X<\/a>, formerly Twitter<\/a>, chanting, \u201cThere\u2019s no excuse for animal abuse.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n Dozens of protesters were also seen outside the premiere<\/a>, carrying signs that read \u201cStop Glamorizing Rodeos\u201d and \u201cLasso Tornadoes, Not Animals.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n PETA demonstrators were seemingly protesting rodeo scenes that are featured in the film. The American animal rights nonprofit organization wrote on X Thursday night, \u201cWe demand a disclaimer! @universalpics, it\u2019s time for a reality check. @Twisters\u2019 rodeo date scene glorifies torment, violence, and death of animals.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n \u201cWhile tornado chasers voluntarily risk their lives, the terrified animals who are mercilessly bullied in rodeo arenas and forced to recreate distressing scenarios for movies<\/a> have no choice,\u201d PETA senior vice president Lisa Lange said in a statement. \u201cPETA is calling on Universal Pictures to at least give viewers of this inhumane film the facts, which are that animals endure grievous injuries and agonizing deaths just so humans can play cowboy.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n PETA also wrote<\/a> on its website, asking audiences \u201cto consider the exploitation behind the troubling rodeo scenes staged for the movie. \u2026 Injuries and death are common for animals in these events. Every reputable animal protection organization opposes rodeos, which is why this summer\u2019s biggest movie should\u00a0condemn<\/em>, not glamorize, this blood sport.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n Twisters<\/em>, which hits theaters July 17, follows a retired tornado-chaser and meteorologist who is persuaded to return to Oklahoma to work with a new team and new technologies. <\/p>\n
