Hold up, did Sof\u00eda Vergara<\/strong> lie about what led to her divorce from Joe Manga<\/a>niello<\/strong>? That\u2019s what he\u2019s now claiming!<\/p>\n

When the news<\/a> broke of their 7-year marriage coming to an end, one of the most widely reported reasons for the split? Joe wanted to have children while Sof\u00eda was a hard NO! She\u2019d been there, done that, and didn\u2019t want to do it again! Especially not at 52 years old!<\/p>\n

The Modern Family<\/em> alum eventually confirmed the reports herself! Multiple times! She told El Pa\u00eds<\/em> earlier this year she and the Magic Mike<\/em> hunk broke up since they were never on the same page when it came to having children, saying:<\/p>\n

\u201cWell, I\u2019m newly divorced from my second husband, who I was with for 10 years. My marriage broke up because my husband was younger; he wanted to have kids and I didn\u2019t want to be an old mom. I feel it\u2019s not fair to the baby. I respect whoever does it, but that\u2019s not for me anymore.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

It makes sense then why Joe was the one to file for divorce (and started dating a younger woman)\u2026 if that was the case! But according to Joe in a new interview with Men\u2019s Journal<\/em>, her claims to El Pa\u00eds<\/em> are \u201csimply not true!\u201d What?!<\/p>\n

In fact, the True Blood<\/em> alum says he and Sof\u00eda \u201cdid try to have a family for the first year and a half,\u201d but it just didn\u2019t happen for them:<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd we had a huge conversation right out of the gate during the first month we dated. I said, \u2018If you\u2019re done with kids, then I understand. Just tell me, and I\u2019ll know what this is, and that\u2019s okay.\u2019 But that wasn\u2019t the case with her. And I swore to her that I would never leave if it didn\u2019t work out. And I didn\u2019t.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

While Joe did want children, he insisted their differences over the matter \u201cwasn\u2019t inevitably why everything ended.\u201d Instead, the Deal or No Deal Island<\/em> host said what really happened was that \u201ctwo people grew apart, and sometimes that happens.\u201d And it hurt him that the accusations from Sof\u00eda impacted what people thought of his character now:<\/p>\n
