\n Disney took a look back at its work from decades past with a pair of throwback concerts at the Hollywood Bowl over the weekend.<\/p>\n

\n Disney \u201980s-\u201990s Celebration in Concert<\/em> featured live performers, many of whom had worked on previous Disney projects, belting out live renditions of favorite tunes from those two titular decades. Jodi Benson (the voice of Ariel in the 1989 movie The Little Mermaid<\/em>), Corbin Bleu (High School Musical<\/em>), Bill Farmer (the official voice of Goofy and Pluto), Krysta Rodriguez (Smash<\/em>), Aisha Jackson (Anna in Broadway\u2019s Frozen<\/em>) and Susan Egan (Meg in Hercules<\/em> and the original Belle in Broadway\u2019s Beauty and the Beast<\/em>) were some of the performers to take the stage. <\/p>\n

\n Among the era-app<\/a>ropriate songs performed in the shows were \u201cA Whole New World\u201d from Aladdin<\/em>, \u201cColors of the Wind\u201d from Pocahontas<\/em>, \u201cCircle of Life\u201d from The Lion King<\/em> and \u201cWhat\u2019s This?\u201d from Tim Burton\u2019s The Nightmare Before Christmas<\/em>. The Los Angeles Philharmonic provided orchestral accompanime<\/a>nt. <\/p>\n

\n When she took the stage to perform The Little Mermaid\u2019<\/em>s \u201cPart of Your World\u201d on Friday, Benson recalled having met late producer Howard Ashman earlier in her career and that he encouraged her to audition as the voice of the movie\u2019s lead, Ariel.<\/p>\n

\n \u201cI just miraculously booked the role of Ariel, and I\u2019m honored that I\u2019ve been doing this role for all of you for 37 years,\u201d Benson told the crowd. \u201cIt\u2019s a privilege. Howard taught me amazing lessons, but the one that I am so thankful for is, he taught me how to be vulnerable, how to be real, how to be authentic behind the microphone \u2014 but not to be perfect. But to be perfect for Ariel.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n When Bleu joined performer Adam J. Levy onstage to introduce a song during the same concert, Levy teased Bleu about his role as Chad in High School Musical <\/em>by singing a snippet of \u201cGet\u2019cha Head in the Game<\/a>,\u201d a number from the Disney Channel\u2019s hit 2006 feature. This led Bleu to quip, \u201cNice job, buddy.\u201d <\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
