Most enterprises make changes more slowly than the SEO landscape evolves. <\/p>\n<p>This will be even more true in 2024, given how rapidly AI and tools like ChatGPT, Gemini and Copilot are building a presence in how people find information and how much they trust it.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In this article, we\u2019ll touch on key skills, both hard and soft, that I think are critical to enterprise SEO today and beyond.\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-ai\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"AI\"><\/span>AI<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>I\u2019ve gone through my personal thoughts on AI previously, and while I do not use it for content creation, I still use it for other purposes, such as:\u00a0<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Formula creation.<\/li>\n<li>Building App<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Script<\/a>s.<\/li>\n<li>Guiding in the creation of tools to help my own productivity, which I wouldn\u2019t otherwise be able to do myself without a lot more time and effort.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>It\u2019s a big issue you can\u2019t ignore if you want to succeed.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-1-using-ai-on-your-own-day-to-day\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"1_Using_AI_on_your_own_day-to-day\"><\/span>1. Using AI on your own day-to-day<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Up to 64% of business owners stated that AI would improve business productivity and 42% believe it will streamline job processes, according to <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/advisor\/business\/software\/ai-in-business\/\">Forbes<\/a>. That is now a blanket expectation for \u201coffice\u201d roles like SEO.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Even if, like me, you aren\u2019t keen on using AI-based tools for the creative elements of your role, leverage them to build the processes in the background for your boring, repeatable tasks.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-2-applying-ai-within-seo\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"2_Applying_AI_within_SEO\"><\/span>2. Applying AI within SEO<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>The AI market is expected to reach <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/advisor\/business\/ai-statistics\">$407 billion by 2027<\/a>, and to date, half of U.S. mobile users use voice search every day. Whether you believe that ChatGPT and other LLMs are going to be viable marketing channels, your bosses probably do.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>You need to carefully explore how to increase your visibility in ChatGPT. This is a cutting-edge area of SEO with limited resources, but experts like <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.seerinteractive.com\/insights\/the-new-search-kpis-for-2024\">Wil Reynolds<\/a>, Michael King and Jes Scholz can help. Key points to consider are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>While a good starting point, ChatGPT does not retrieve answers the same way \u201cPeople Also Ask\u201d answers seem to.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Bing\u2019s index powers many current LLM models, like ChatGPT. It\u2019s not a few hundred pages; it\u2019s a few million, maybe more.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s difficult to sit down and actually analyze trends if you aren\u2019t able to analyze to scale. The migration of many to GA4 might only make this more difficult.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>I will fully admit that these two particular skills are controversial because I\u2019m still learning them.\u00a0<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-3-sql\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"3_SQL\"><\/span>3. It also helps you identify if Google is stuck on or repeatedly visits unimportant pages.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>While not exactly \u201cpruning,\u201d knowing how Google interacts with your site is increasingly important for crawlability.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Dig deeper: <\/em><\/strong><strong><em>Why server logs matter for SEO<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-5-python\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"5_Python\"><\/span>5. PR\/digital PR<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>I\u2019m not saying everyone needs to become an expert in outreach and brand management. However, it\u2019s increasingly important to connect with the people in your company who handle press and PR.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Traditional PR is catching up on SEO and practices like deep-linking, but they might need some guidance or reminders.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Dig deeper: What is digital PR for SEO?<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-7-social-channels\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"7_Social_channels\"><\/span>7.
