Google has confirmed with Search Engine Land that AI Overviews are available for signed-out users in the US after we noticed Google <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.seroundtable.com\/google-testing-ai-overviews-incognito-37907.html\">testing it this morning<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What it looks like. <\/strong>I just conducted a search while not signed into Google using Chrome and Google showed me an AI Overview at the top of the search results. <\/p>\n<p>Here is a screenshot:<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"2048\" height=\"1581\" src=\"https:\/\/searchengineland.com\/wp-content\/seloads\/2024\/08\/google-ai-overviews-signed-out.png.webp\" alt=\"Google Ai Overviews Signed Out\" class=\"wp-image-445233\" srcset=\"https:\/\/searchengineland.com\/wp-content\/seloads\/2024\/08\/google-ai-overviews-signed-out.png.webp 2048w,https:\/\/searchengineland.com\/wp-content\/seloads\/2024\/08\/google-ai-overviews-signed-out-438x338.png.webp 438w,https:\/\/searchengineland.com\/wp-content\/seloads\/2024\/08\/google-ai-overviews-signed-out-777x600.png.webp 777w,https:\/\/searchengineland.com\/wp-content\/seloads\/2024\/08\/google-ai-overviews-signed-out-146x113.png.webp 146w,https:\/\/searchengineland.com\/wp-content\/seloads\/2024\/08\/google-ai-overviews-signed-out-768x593.png.webp 768w,https:\/\/searchengineland.com\/wp-content\/seloads\/2024\/08\/google-ai-overviews-signed-out-1536x1186.png 1536w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 2048px) 100vw, 2048px\"><\/figure>\n<p><strong>More details. <\/strong>As a reminder, Google launched AI Overviews to US searchers back in May, after the Google I\/O event. <\/p>\n<p>Today, Google expanded AI Overviews to six new countries, added new links to the AI Overviews and added new Search Labs experimental tests for AI Overviews.<\/p>\n<p>Jon Henshaw posted on\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/posts\/jonhenshaw_so-that-whole-thing-about-how-ai-overviews-activity-7229534565059444736-jz1k\/\">LinkedIn<\/a> yesterday he was seeing these while signed out, so I dug in and Google confirmed, it is 100% rolled out to all US searchers.  I should note, I personally do not see AI Overviews when searching logged in to my Google Workspace account but Google did tell me that Workspace accounts can see AI Overviews.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Why we care. <\/strong>As more and more searchers see AI Overviews, it might lead to different click behavior from the Google Search results. Google touts how AI Overviews should lead to more traffic to publishers, but publishers have good reason to be doubtful of such statements, especially since Google is not showing publishers distinct impression and click data from Search Console on AI Overviews.<\/p>\n<p>This also means that SEO tools will be able to better track these AI Overviews, as Lily Ray <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/lilyraynyc\/status\/1824142795180847546\">pointed out<\/a>.
