\n Like the real Jane Grey, the reign of My Lady Jane<\/em> turned out to be a short one.<\/p>\n

\n Amazon\u2019s Prime Video has canceled the period drama, which combined romance and alternate-world fantasy. The cancellation comes about seven weeks after Prime Video released all eight episodes of the show\u2019s first (and now only) season.<\/p>\n

\n My Lady Jane<\/em>, based on a novel by Cynthia Hand, Brodi Ashton and Jodi Meadows, is set in a 16th century England where humans co-exist with shape-shifters who can take the form of either people or animals. Jane Grey (Emily Bader) is an ordinary human, known as a Verity, who becomes sympathetic to the oppressed shape-shifters, known as Ethians \u2014 which will become a problem for the ruling class as Jane rises to power.<\/p>\n

\n Edward Bluemel, Rob Brydon, Dominic Cooper, Anna Chancellor, Jordan Peters, Kate O\u2019Flynn, Henry Ashton, Jim Broadbent and Ollie Chris (who narrates) star alongside Bader. <\/p>\n

\n My Lady Jane<\/em> received mostly favorable reviews from critics; The Hollywood Reporter\u2019<\/em>s Angie Han wrote that while the series<\/a> is never \u201cquite as edgy or uproarious as\u00a0My Lady Jane<\/em>\u00a0seems to presume it is, the eight-hour season still serves up plenty of amusement.\u201d The show didn\u2019t catch on in a big way with viewers, however; Prime Video doesn\u2019t share detailed ratings data for its programming, but My Lady Jane<\/em> didn\u2019t break into Nielsen\u2019s top 10 streaming charts in the month after its release.<\/p>\n

\n Gemma Burgess created the series and was co-showrunner with Meredith Glynn. They executive produced with director Jamie Babbit, Sarah Bradshaw and Laurie MacDonald. Amazon MGM Studios produced the series.<\/p>\n

\n Deadline<\/em> first reported the cancellation.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
