If you review the results, you should not see any branded traffic.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Filter to primary target geography<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>By default, the results shown here will be everything, everywhere, which can skew your results. The best option is to filter this by your primary geography, so you will look at the UK only for this account.\u00a0<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Click <em>New &gt; Country.<\/em><\/li>\n<li>Select your country (here I am selecting \u201cUnited Kingdom\u201d) then click <em>Apply.<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" 463px\"><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p>This now filters the data so you only see your target country (which makes the clicks, impressions, CTR and rankings much more accurate).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Note: <\/strong>If you are only used to seeing traditional rank reports and the like, this kind of filtering, which removes all organic brand traffic and international traffic, can reveal some hard truths.<\/p>\n<p>If I had a dollar for every time you reviewed a client\u2019s search console and there was practically no unbranded organic traffic, I would have a great big jar of dollars.<\/p>\n<p>At the very least, you will start to understand your traffic accurately, which may challenge some of your perceptions about what works and drives clicks.<\/p>\n<p>Also, should your requirements be a little more complicated, you can read up on <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/support.google.com\/webmasters\/answer\/7576553\/#regex_filter\">regular expressions<\/a> and create filters to exclude or focus on what matters.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-real-traffic-analysis-nbsp\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Real_traffic_analysis\"><\/span>Real traffic analysis\u00a0<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>By applying the filters above, what is left represents your real exposure and traffic from Google Search.<\/p>\n<p>The next step is to enable the four key metrics and review them individually.<\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img SEO and PPC, note any keywords and landing page combos that may be useful in your Google Ads campaigns.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Clicks<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Clicks are the main goal and what you\u2019re ultimately aiming for.<\/li>\n<li>Here, you will see precisely how many clicks you get for your target search terms.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Impressions <\/strong>\u00a0<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Impressions are how many times you showed up in search results.<\/li>\n<li>The amount of clicks you receive vs impressions gives you an idea of the size of the opportunity.<\/li>\n<li>The screenshot below has a few exciting examples:\n<ul>\n<li>305 clicks from 12,743 impressions with a CTR of 2.4% in position 6.5.<\/li>\n<li>53 clicks from 10,687 impressions with a CTR of 0.5% in position 4.6.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"591\" As the business sells glass banister kits, we want to see more than a lowly three clicks for every 100 searches.
