\n Somebody Somewhere<\/em> is bowing out.<\/p>\n

\n The critically acclaimed, Peabody Award-winning HBO dramedy will end with its forthcoming third season. The final run is set to premiere on Oct. 27. <\/p>\n

\n HBO picked up a third season of the series<\/a> in June 2023. It began filming soon after the end of last year\u2019s SAG-AFTRA strike (script<\/a>s had been completed prior to the writers strike), making it one of the first productions to get running again after writers and actors secured new contracts.<\/p>\n

\n Created by Hannah Bos and Paul Thureen and starring Bridget Everett (who\u2019s also a writer and executive producer), Somebody Somewhere<\/em> centers on Sam (Everett), who moves back to her Kansas hometown and eventually finds her people in a community of outsiders \u201cwho don\u2019t fit in but don\u2019t give up,\u201d as the show\u2019s logline puts it. <\/p>\n

\n \u201cIt has been the greatest dream to bring this world to life, and to do it with HBO, Bos, Thureen, Everett and executive producer Carolyn Strauss said in a statement. \u201cKansas Prairie-sized love and thanks to Amy [Gravitt], the entire HBO family, and to the most talented and caring cast and crew. The heart of Somebody Somewhere<\/em> is friendship, and we will always hold dear the friendships on the screen and those forged behind the camera.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n Added Gravitt, executive vp HBO Programming and head of HBO and Max comedy series, \u201cWe are incredibly proud to have collaborated with Bridget, Hannah and Paul on this remarkable exploration of the beauty of everyday life. Though it\u2019s hard to say goodbye to these characters we hold dear, we\u2019re grateful for this journey and the legacy Somebody Somewhere<\/em> leaves behind.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n Somebody Somewhere<\/em> is set in and around Manhattan, Kansas \u2014 Everett\u2019s hometown \u2014\u00a0which honored the actress with a \u201cBridget Everett Day\u201d in 2023. She told The Hollywood Reporter<\/em> that people there have thanked her, Bos and Thureen for taking care to portray small-town life as it really is. <\/p>\n

\n \u201cI was in Manhattan, Kansas, and we were out at Old Chicago \u2014\u00a0it was the only place we could get a table that night \u2014 and at different points somebody who runs queer studies at Kansas State and the head basketball coach came over to tell me they liked the show,\u201d Everett said. \u201cI found it very satisfying that people from such different walks of life could see themselves in the show and respond well to it. You don\u2019t want your hometown to turn on you and think you\u2019re a big turkey.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n The series also stars Jeff Hiller,\u00a0Mary Catherine Garrison, Tim Bagley, Murray Hill, Jennifer Mudge, Mercedes White and Meighan Gerachis. \u00d3lafur Darri \u00d3lafsson joined the cast for the final season.<\/p>\n

\n Bos, Thureen, Everett and Strauss (via her Mighty Mint banner) executive produce Somebody Somewhere<\/em> with Jay Duplass, Mark Duplass and Mel Eslyn of Duplass Brothers Productions and Tyler Romary. Shuli Harel produces. Season three\u2019s writers are Bos and Thureen, Everett, Lisa Kron and Lennon Parham; Jay Duplass, Robert Cohen and Parham directed.\u00a0<\/p>\n
