Yet my screaming inner infant can\u2019t derail the transition.<\/p>\n<p>Our beloved bricks have now been in video <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/game\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"7\" title=\"Game\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">game<\/a>s for nearly <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/List_of_Lego_video_games\">three decades<\/a>. Since debuting on Sega Pico in 1995, the Lego games empire has expanded across over 80 titles and 200 million sales.<\/p>\n<p>The biggest hits have come from licensing deals. Collaborations with Star Wars, Marvel, and Harry Potter have\u00a0shifted copious copies \u2014 despite their <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.watchmojo.com\/articles\/the-10-worst-lego-video-games\">dubious quality<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Buoyed by the results, the company has started splurging on games studios. In 2022, the Kristiansen family \u2014 the fabulously wealthy Danish clan that controls Lego \u2014 invested $1bn in Epic Games. A year later, the partners released their first offspring: <em>Lego Fortnite<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Pitched as a <em>Minecraft<\/em> rival, the game quickly attracted a large audience. Christiansen<\/span> <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2024-08-28\/lego-ceo-wants-to-copy-fortnite-success-with-more-game-deals?srnd=phx-technology\">told Bloomberg<\/a>. \u201cIt\u2019s not new for the Lego Group to do partnerships and license agreements, and it\u2019s clearly our ambition that we will do more.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2 data-component=\"paragraph\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Lego_is_just_the_start\"><\/span>Lego is just the start<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p data-component=\"paragraph\">Lego\u2019s rivals have deployed similar strategies.<\/p>\n<p data-component=\"paragraph\">Hasbro has unearthed new riches in smartphone <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>s. A digital <em>Monopoly<\/em>\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/sensortower.com\/blog\/scopely-monopoly-go-fastest-ever-3b-gross\">recently became<\/a> the fastest mobile game to gross $3bn in revenues.<\/p>\n<p data-component=\"paragraph\">Mattel has also earned big bucks in new\u00a0markets. In 2023, the company\u2019s <em>Barbie f<\/em>ilm was the world\u2019s <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/2023\/film\/box-office\/barbie-highest-grossing-worldwide-movie-year-1235705510\/\">highest-grossing<\/a> movie. A new Barbie phone aims to piggyback the blockbuster\u2019s success.<\/p>\n<p data-component=\"paragraph\">TNW\u2019s intrepid reporter, Si\u00f4n Geschwindt, has high hopes for device\u2014 and so do his kids.<\/p>\n<p data-component=\"paragraph\">I\u2019m less enthusiastic.<\/p>\n<p data-component=\"paragraph\">I worry about the future for the toys of my past. If digital life proves too lucrative, they may one day leave the physical world for good.<\/p>\n<p data-component=\"paragraph\">But that doesn\u2019t mean my peers can\u2019t embrace the new era. After all, it\u2019s not just children\u00a0who want digital versions of toys.
