He said that the Los Angeles Coroner\u2019s Office called Richard Simmons\u2019 brother, Lenny Simmons, on Aug. 21 with autopsy results.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Coroner informed Lenny that Richard\u2019s death was accidental due to complications from recent falls and heart disease as a contributing factor,\u201d the statement read. \u201cThe toxicology report was negative other than medication Richard had been prescribed. The autopsy also found that he had cysts in both kidneys and gallstones.<\/p>\n<p>Two law enforcement sources confirmed to NBC News last month that Simmons had been found unresponsive in the Hollywood Hills neighborhood. L.A. Fire and LA Police Department officials responded to a call at 10 a.m. PT and pronounced Simmons dead at the scene, officials said.<\/p>\n<p>At the time, Lenny Simmons shared a statement to TODAY.com, saying that the family was \u201cin shock\u201d following his brother\u2019s death, but urged the public to \u201cnot be sad.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI want them to remember him for the genuine joy and love he brought to people\u2019s lives,\u201d he said. \u201cHe truly cared about people.
