But other parts of sun-soaked Spain are welcoming remote workers with open arms \u2014 and wads of cash.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This week, the local government of Extremadura announced it is offering digital nomads and remote workers up to \u20ac15,000 to move to the rural region. The grants are for \u201cavailable housing, arable land, and everything necessary to expedite their arrival,\u201d said officials in a <\/span><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.juntaex.es\/w\/junta-de-extremadura-celebra-el-buen-trabajo-que-el-grupo-de-accion-local-desarrollointegral-del-valle-de-ambroz?inheritRedirect=true\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">press release<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Bordering Portugal, Extremadura is known for its mountainous landscapes, vineyards, historic villages, great food, and low cost of living. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">An apartment in the <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">C\u00e1ceres\u200e<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> starts at a few hundred euros a month.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> A pint? <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u20ac1.75. A c<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>uccino? \u20ac1.50. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Importantly, it also has solid fibre and mobile coverage for those busy tech workers.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">But there\u2019s a catch \u2014 you\u2019ll have to stay there for at least two years to qualify. Which doesn\u2019t sound very alluring for digital <em>nomads<\/em>. Plus, Extremadura gets incredibly hot and dry in summer, and isn\u2019t known for being very exciting. People under 30 and those who move to villages with fewer than 5,000 inhabitants can apply for a subsidy of \u20ac10,000. The rest will receive \u20ac8,000.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you stay for two consecutive years, those in the first category who choose to stay for another year will receive a second payment of \u20ac5,000, while the others will receive \u20ac4,000.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The grants are open to all nationalities, provided they have the right to live and work in Spain. That\u2019s quite simple for EU nationals.
