\n Julia Stuart, the director of Sky Original Film, heads up a team that acquires exclusive rights and commissions original feature productions for Sky Cinema\u2019s platform as well as theatrical release.<\/p>\n

\n Stuart and her team have brought several major titles to Sky, including Michael Mann\u2019s Ferrari<\/em>, May December<\/em> starring Julianne Moore and Natalie Portman, and The Beekeeper<\/em> starring Jason Statham.<\/p>\n

\n Sky\u2019s current 2025 slate includes action thriller Black Ops<\/em> starring Ashley Walters, Blarney<\/em>, an Irish romantic comedy that Dan Mazer (Borat, I Give It A Year<\/em>) will write and direct; Romulus<\/em>, a sci-fi thriller with Lorcan Finnegan (Vivarium<\/em>) attached to direct and a new adaptation of Robert Harris\u2019s bestselling novel Fatherland<\/em> with German filmmaker Dennis Gansel attached.<\/p>\n

\n My \u201conly in Toronto\u201d moment is:<\/strong> \u00a0The pirate noises everyone makes during the piracy warning! It really threw me the first time I heard it but I look forward to it now as I know it means I\u2019m going to watch a film with an amazing, engaged audience.<\/p>\n

\n My \u201cCanadians are so nice\u201d moment is\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n

\n The first time I was in Toronto someone wheeling a huge trolley of drinks cans [across the street] lost control of it and they rolled everywhere \u2014 the entire street ran into the road to help pick them up. It\u2019s such a small thing but that sort of collective kindness really stayed with me.\u00a0 I\u2019m not sure that would happ<\/a>en in London.<\/p>\n

\n The one place I have to visit when in Toronto is<\/strong>\u2026<\/p>\n

\n The mall! I have a weakness for Bath and Body Works but they always leak in my case on the way home.<\/p>\n

\n The place I avoid during the festival is\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n

\n Nowhere \u2014 I like the crowds and the buzzy vibe of downtown during TIFF.<\/p>\n

\n My favorite Canadian director\/talent is\u2026\u00a0<\/strong> <\/p>\n

\n Mary Harron \u2014 American Psycho<\/em> is an iconic adaptation and she\u2019s also worked across some darker genre television I love like The Following<\/em>.\u00a0 Not sure what that says about me but I like a bit of the macabre!<\/p>\n

\n The most Canadian thing about Toronto is\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n

\n The audiences and volunteers at the festival are so nice. It\u2019s a clich\u00e9 for a reason. The festival has a genuine sense of community and you feel like everyone\u2019s there for the love of film.<\/p>\n

\n The one thing I won\u2019t travel<\/a> without (besides my phone) is\u2026<\/strong>\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n Everything I need to make a solid cup of tea \u2014 I pack a kettle, tea bags, and my own mug.<\/p>\n

\n Biggest star encounter in Toronto\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n

\n A pre-Barbie<\/em> Margot Robbie at a buyers screening making time to talk to everyone.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n Ryan Gosling or Ryan Reynolds?<\/strong> <\/p>\n

\n Gosling?<\/p>\n

\n In Toronto you should always\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n

\n Pack tissues! A lot of tearjerkers on offer that tug at the heartstrings, I\u2019m usually trying to subtly wipe away the tears in at least one screening.<\/p>\n

\n Leave home without packing like you\u2019re heading out on a hike \u2014 it can be four seasons in a day and I always make sure to have comfortable shoes, sunglasses, an umbrella and a raincoat with me.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
