\n Media<\/a> watch: Atlantic Claims Are a Washout<\/strong><\/p>\n

Atlantic editor Jeffrey Goldberg \u201cclaims that Donald Trump snubbed a World War I American cemetery in France because \u2018it\u2019s filled with losers\u2019 and the Doughboys buried there are \u2018suckers,\u2019 \u201d notes Deroy Murdock at Spectator USA. But Goldberg\u2019s four sources for that Nov. 10, 2018, discussion are \u201call anonymous,\u201d while \u201cat least 11 named members of Trump\u2019s Paris team corroborate\u201d the president\u2019s denials. The \u201cmost compelling\u201d is ex-adviser John Bolton, now a \u201cstalwart Trump critic,\u201d who says he didn\u2019t hear \u201canything resembling\u201d what Goldberg claims. Murdock notes that the next day, Trump \u201cventured to Suresnes American Cemetery and spoke in the rain for 10 minutes, sans umbrella,\u201d about the \u201cgreat, great warriors\u201d buried there.<\/p>\n

Iconoclast: Victims the New Heroes<\/strong><\/p>\n

Jessica Krug\u2019s long charade of being black, observes Brendan O\u2019Neill of Spiked, is behavior to be expected in an \u201cidentitarian culture,\u201d in which \u201cyou are taken more seriously depending on the exoticness of your identity.\u201d Krug was convincing precisely because she played the part of a victim of structural oppression, \u201ctitillating a cultural elite that now loves nothing more than to be told how foul and destructive whiteness and the West have been.\u201d The attention and adoration granted anyone claiming the right victimhood have produced a society that \u201cencourages the cultivation of identities that are exaggerated, reimagined or simply made up,\u201d so that\u2019s exactly what happ<\/a>ens.<\/p>\n

Debt hawk: State Bailout Quid Pro Quo <\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cFederal borrowing already exceeds GDP,\u201d frets economist Brian Wesbury at RealClearPolitics, and politicians are now eyeing even more debt \u2014 including $1 trillion to bail out states for pre-COVID problems, like Illinois\u2019 $200 million unfunded pension obligations. If we ask \u201cour children and grandchildren to pay for this,\u201d we should take steps to \u201climit the odds of more bailouts.\u201d We must demand that bailed-out states shift to \u00ad\u201cdefined-contribution pension plans,\u201d like 401Ks, to limit their liabilities. Pass right-to-work laws and make union dues voluntary \u2014 after all, \u00adunions that use their cash to push politicians to grant bigger pensions \u201chelped create\u201d these budget woes. Such steps could help offset taxpayers\u2019 financial burden. \u201cEvery bailout of banks in 2008-09 came with conditions.\u201d Why not the same for states?<\/p>\n

Conservative: The Left\u2019s Open Coup<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cAs if 2020 were not insane enough already,\u201d warns Michael Anton at The American Mind, \u201cwe now have Democrats and their ruling-class masters openly talking about staging a coup.\u201d Amid lockdowns and riots, it was easy to miss that four-star general<\/a>s have hinted at troops disobeying presidential orders when it comes to suppressing chaos. Plus, at a George Soros-funded election war game<\/a> roleplayed by Dem grandees and Never Trumpers, longtime Clintonite \u201cJohn Podesta, playing Joe Biden, refused to concede, pressured states that Trump won to send Democrats to the formal Electoral College vote and trusted that the military would take care of the rest.\u201d Why talk openly about such plans? Because, Anton argues, \u201cfor it to succeed, it must not look like a conspiracy. They need to plant the idea in the public mind, now, that their unlawful and illegitimate removal of Trump from office will somehow be his fault.\u201d \u201cDon\u2019t be fooled\u201d when the time comes.<\/p>\n

From the right: The Coming Police Crisis<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cAmerican policing is heading for a crisis,\u201d predicts former police reporter Mike Brake at National Review, as cops \u201cstop performing the kind of proactive police work that every good cop knows is what really prevents crimes. No doubt many already have.\u201d An officer who, say, \u201cspots several young males loitering on a corner in a high-crime neighborhood\u201d is less likely to take any action. A stop-and-question, check for outstanding warrants or frisk for an illegal weapon could lead to a confrontation that escalates out of control, and cops now \u201crealize\u201d that \u201cthey risk being thrown to the wolves by craven local prosecutors, mayors or police \u00adadministrators, no matter how right or blameless they may be in the \u00adactions they take under pressure.\u201d<\/p>\n
