Last year, biogas and other forms of bioenergy covered about 7% of the EU\u2019s <\/span><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/energy.ec.europa.eu\/news\/bioenergy-report-outlines-progress-being-made-across-eu-2023-10-27_en#:~:text=In%20the%20electricity%20sector%2C%2045.6,of%20the%20total%20gross%20electricity.\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">total electricity<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> needs.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Unlike most of the plants in operation today, Reversion\u2019s tech turns biogas into electricity using specially-designed solid oxide fuel cells that boost efficiency to 80% \u2014 double that of conventional gas engines.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Reverion\u2019s name is derived from \u2018reversible\u2019 and \u2018ions\u2019 because the startup\u2019s plants can be used both to generate electricity \u2014 during times of demand \u2014 and to make methane and hydrogen when there is a surplus of renewable energy on the grid.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The plant also captures the CO2 produced during the electrochemical reaction inside the fuel-cell, which can then be sold to make products like Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAF) or buried underground for perpetuity. Reversion claims this makes it a CO2 <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">negative<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> technology.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">While some question the <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">carbon-cutting claims<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of many bioenergy with carbon capture and storage (BECCS) schemes, it remains the world\u2019s only kind of carbon capture technology that also makes energy. And by using fuel-cells, which don\u2019t combust the biogas, Reverion\u2019s technology holds a lot of promise as a climate-friendly way to generate clean energy from biomass.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Tapping_the_market\"><\/span><b>Tapping the market<\/b><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">By producing much more power from the same amount of waste, Reverion\u2019s plants boost profits for the increasing numbers of farmers and industries that sell bioenergy to the grid. The captured CO2 also offers another potential revenue stream.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Reverion makes a 100kW device that fits in a 20-foot standard container and a 500kW system installed in a 40-foot container.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cThe demand for our units has been overwhelming in Germany, and we\u2019re not stopping there \u2014 we\u2019re preparing for a global push with strategies tailored to each region\u2019s regulations,\u201d said Dr Stephan Herrmann, CEO and managing director at Reverion.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The oversubscribed <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/watch-movies-tv-seriess\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"8\" title=\"Watch Movies &amp; TV Series\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Series<\/a> A funding round was led by US investor Energy Impact Partners with participation from Honda and the European Innovation Council.
