\u201cthats honey,\u201d the latest single from L.A.-based indie rock trio <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/untitledhalo.bandcamp.com\/\">untitled (halo)<\/a>. \u201cYou wanted it all,\u201d So used to the fall,\u201d Jack Dione whispers with devilish intent, seemingly haunting his bandmate Ariana Mamnoon. In her verses on the <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/urikasbedroom.bandcamp.com\/track\/xtc\">urika&#8217;s bedroom<\/a>-produced song, Mamnoon is focused on angels and how \u201csummer feels like a different way to be high,\u201d as if the sunshine is blinding her from the darkness lurking ahead. \u201cthat\u2019s honey\u201d is one of a raft of songs the band has released this year that quietly tweaks the slacker playbook, injecting dream pop jams with a tightly-sound physicality and an ambient acknowledgment of doom. They quickly agreed to work together and wrote their debut single, \u201cel prado freestyle,\u201d the first time they got together to jam. That single dropped last year and was quickly followed by an EP, <i>towncryer<\/i>. Both \u201cel prado freestyle\u201d and the EP make interesting use of space, with Jay Are\u2019s drums staying loose and giving his bandmates a groove to work with. \u201cLimewire,\u201d named for the file-sharing service that helped millions of millennials inadvertently <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">download<\/a> virus-filled MP3s to their parents&#8217; desktop computers, has a hushed and drowsy energy that pulls you in closer. The EP is raw and a little shaggy but you can hear a band coming together in real time. They experiment with caustic guitar tones (\u201coblique butterfly\u201d) and pop hooks that take flight on top of speedy drums (\u201cspiral\u201d) as they surge toward a sound to call their own. <\/p>\n<p>            This year the band has released two official singles, \u201cthat\u2019s honey\u201d plus \u201csKill isSue.\u201d The latter came out in May and marks a notable step up in terms of production and fidelity. Dione and Mamnoon\u2019s words are both delivered with a cool detachment, a tone at odds with the spiraling nature of their lyrics. \u201cWhen I can\u2019t be on my own I find that I can\u2019t have control\u201d Mamnoon sings to an absent partner, singing her way through the discomfort without ever letting it win. <\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<style>\n<\/style>\n<div id=\"content_block-264222\" class=\"content_block paragraph embed triple_gutter_right triple_gutter_left center_align\">\n<div class=\"content_inner_wrapper\">\n<div class=\"media_wrapper\">\n<div class=\"\">\n    <iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"sKill isSue\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Hz_40nZSEu8?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<style>\n<\/style>\n<div id=\"content_block-264230\" class=\"content_block paragraph text triple_gutter_right triple_gutter_left center_align\">\n<div class=\"content_inner_wrapper\">\n<div class=\"paragraph_wrapper center_align\">\n<p>            There are shades of Warpaint in their way these songs ripple into hypnotic cycles, while traces of bar italia\u2019s lo-fi moodiness can also be felt. The band say they prefer to look to the <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/watch-movies-tv-seriess\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"8\" title=\"Watch Movies &amp; TV Series\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">movies<\/a> for inspiration, though. In a recent <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.teenvogue.com\/story\/untitled-halo-arent-bowing-down-to-rock-deities-anymore-interview\">Teen Vogue<\/a> feature they cited <i>Dazed &amp; Confused<\/i>, <i>Streetwise<\/i> by Martin Bell and Dennis Hopper\u2019s <i>Out of the Blue<\/i> as fixtures on their moodboard. \u201cWe make little movies through songs,\u201d Dione said while namechecking movies that capture the perfection and horror of adolescence. <\/p>\n<p>            In addition to these singles, untitled (halo) has also appeared on <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/open.spotify.com\/album\/1qMuvJRu4Rc7RmZPdafYU8?si=hBa3wRV4SDmbdNthk8yj4w\"><i>Road Less Traveled 2<\/i><\/a>, the latest compilation from London-based label <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/scenic____route\/?hl=en\">Scenic Route<\/a>. They line-up alongside contributions from Nourished By Time and Copenhagen duo Coined with their song \u201cPedal Petal,\u201d an echo-laden ballad and one of their sweetest moments to date.
