\n Patrick J. Adams is standing firm that \u201cSuits<\/em>\u00a0walked so that\u00a0Succession<\/em>\u00a0could run.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n The actor, who played Mike Ross on the popular legal drama, shared his theory in a recent episode of his and Sarah Rafferty\u2018s Sidebar: A Suits Watch Podcast<\/a><\/em>, saying, \u201cSuits<\/em>\u00a0is a predecessor to another very popular show,\u201d which was HBO\u2019s Succession<\/em>.<\/p>\n

\n Adams went on to list \u201cthe things that we have in common,\u201d including \u201cDagmara [Domi\u0144czyk]. She was in\u00a0Succession<\/em>, she was in\u00a0Suits<\/em>. Rob Yang. Do you know who Rob Yang was in our show? He was the doctor in [Suits\u2019<\/em>\u00a0pilot] where he\u2019s giving Mike the drug test. You know where else you\u2019ve seen Rob Yang? The pilot of\u00a0Succession<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n The Plan B<\/em> actor also noted that Kevin Bray, who directed and produced several early episodes of\u00a0Suits<\/em>, and who Adams said is \u201carguably responsible for the look and vibe of the whole thing,\u201d also directed a few episodes of\u00a0Succession<\/em>.<\/p>\n

\n Adams explained that the overall theme<\/a>s are similar as well. \u201cIt\u2019s in New York, we\u2019re dealing with New York. Power brokers, people moving and shaking at the highest levels of New York society,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

\n While Rafferty, who played Donna Paulsen on Suits<\/em>, understood all of Adams\u2019 points, she also pointed out a major difference between the two series<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\n \u201cThey were sitting in a radically different place than we were at the Golden Globes,\u201d she said, referring to Succession<\/em>\u2018s popularity among awards voters (the show won nine Golden Globes and 19 Emmys throughout its run from 2018-2023).<\/p>\n

\n \u201cYeah, well, they got to be the grown-up\u201d to\u00a0Suits<\/em>\u2018 \u201cPG version,\u201d Adams responded. That could likely be attributed to the fact that Suits<\/em> aired for nine seasons on USA Network, which has more limitations as it\u2019s a basic cable channel, while Succession<\/em> aired on HBO,\u00a0<\/em>a premium cable network that allowed more freedom to what characters said and did.<\/p>\n

\n However, Suits<\/em>, which initially ran from 2011-2019, saw a recent resurgence following its premiere on Netflix last year, becoming the most-streamed show over the course of a year. A reboot, Suits L.A.<\/em>, is also in the works.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
