Jumper was <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>ointed director last year. The duo won their Nobel Prize for developed an AI model that solved a 50-year-old challenge in biology: predicting the structure of proteins.<\/p>\n<div class=\"inarticle-wrapper channel-cta\">\n<div class=\"ica-text\"><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/ai.live.ft.com\/?utm_source=partner-emp&amp;utm_medium=referral&amp;utm_campaign=global_partner_event-registration_prospecting_bau_2024-future-of-ai-london_core&amp;utm_term=tnw\" data-event-category=\"Article\" data-event-action=\"In Article Block\" data-event-label=\"Join the Financial Times Future of AI Summit on November 6-7\"><\/p>\n<p class=\"ica-text__title\">Join the Financial Times Future of AI Summit on November 6-7<\/p>\n<p>In partnership with TNW, the Future of AI Summit explores the cutting edge of AI innovation and how it is being scaled for success and growth.<\/p>\n<p><\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Dubbed AlphaFold2, the tool can predict over 200 million of protein structures \u2014 nearly all known to <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/sciencee\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"5\" title=\"Science\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">science<\/a> \u2014 from their amino acid sequences.<\/p>\n<p>This enables researchers to understand how proteins work and interact with other molecules in the body, offering unprecedented insights into disease development and drug discovery.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"AlphaFold2s_impact\"><\/span>AlphaFold2\u2019s impact<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Since its launch, AlphaFold2 \u2014 which is freely available \u2014 has been used by more than 2 million scientists across 190 countries. It has supported multiple areas of research, from projects on malaria vaccines and Parkinson\u2019s treatments to drug-resistant bacteria.<\/p>\n<p>AlphaFold2\u2019s im<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">media<\/a>te impact is accelerated research, Jumper said during the press conference.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat I think will come soon through our work is that we\u2019re going to get better and better at harnessing biology and our understanding of biology to make medicines,\u201d he added. \u201cI hope this means that, ultimately, we will be more responsive to, for example, pandemics.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Hassabis said he\u2019s dedicated his life to AI because it could \u201cimprove the lives of billions of people.\u201d However, he cautioned that artificial intelligence\u00a0can do both good and bad.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have to really think very hard as these systems and techniques get more powerful about how to enable and empower all of the benefits and good use cases, whilst mitigating the risks.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As artificial intelligence is changing the face of fundamental sciences, the Nobel Prize in Physics was also awarded to two AI researchers: John Hopfield and Geoffrey Hinton for their work in training neural networks using physics.\n                        <\/p><\/div>\n<blockquote><p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">If you liked the article, do not forget to share it with your friends.
