\n Dan Aykroyd has officially given Saturday Night<\/em> his stamp of app<\/a>roval.<\/p>\n

\n The actor and original Saturday Night Live<\/em> castmember took to X<\/a>, formerly Twitter<\/a>, on Friday to share his thoughts on director Jason Reitman\u2018s latest film, which centers on the 90 minutes leading up to the sketch comedy show\u2019s first broadcast in 1975.<\/p>\n

\n \u201cCracking a Head to applaud Jason Reitman\u2019s triumphant SNL<\/em> film. Wow!\u201d Aykroyd wrote after watching the movie at his local theater.\u00a0\u201cWhat a propulsive, engaging, funny, beautifully cast and acted, suspenseful, adventurous, music-filled ride.\u00a0 A perfect window into the creative process at its highest level.\u00a0Pretty accurate too.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n The Ghostbusters <\/em>actor continued, \u201cI was there that night and got to relive it wonderfully again.\u00a0Congratulations Gil, Jason and Blumie.\u00a0Don\u2019t miss it whether you know the show or not.\u00a0It is a stand-alone masterpiece and surefire candidate for Best Picture.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n Saturday Night<\/em> takes place on Oct. 11, 1975, the day SNL <\/em>premiered, and follows a ferocious troupe of young comedians and writers who change television forever. Dylan O\u2019Brien plays Aykroyd, alongside Gabriel LaBelle (Lorne Michaels), Rachel Sennott (Rosie Shuster), Cory Michael Smith (Chevy Chase), Ella Hunt (Gilda Radner), Emily Fairn (Laraine Newman), Matt Wood (John Belushi), Lamorne Morris (Garrett Morris), Kim Matula (Jane Curtin), Nicholas Braun (Andy Kaufman) and Andrew Barth Feldman (Neil Levy).<\/p>\n

\n Reitman previously told The Hollywood Reporter<\/em> that finding the movie\u2019s Aykroyd was the most difficult, saying, \u201cIt was genuinely scary.\u201d The filmmaker said the actor had a \u201cvery unique sex appeal,\u201d so when he learned that \u201cthere was an appreciation of Dylan O\u2019Brien\u201d among women, Reitman knew he found the right guy for the role.<\/p>\n

\n Aykroyd also noted<\/a> on social media that he was \u201cexcited to see how Jason\u2019s hilarious yet suspenseful story turned out\u201d because he was the \u201conly original crew member who had a chance to read the script.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n Saturday Night<\/em> is currently playing in theaters.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
