\n Democratic nominee Joe Biden for years falsely claimed in interviews that he predicted the 9\/11 terror attacks and a possible strike on the White House in a speech delivered the day before terrorists flew planes into the Twin Towers.<\/p>\n

On Sept. 10, 2001, the then-senator from Delaware gave a foreign policy speech at Washington, DC\u2019s National Press Club where he complained about the Bush administration\u2019s spending on a missile defense system, warning an anthrax or biological attack was more likely.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe real threat comes to this country in the hold of a ship, the belly of a plane, or smuggled into a city in the middle of the night in a vial in a backpack,\u201d Biden said.<\/p>\n

But when al-Qaeda terrorists hijacked four planes the following morning and killed 2,977 Americans, Biden began claiming he predicted the attack.<\/p>\n

He did no such thing. During the hour-long speech, Biden mentioned terrorism only three times \u2014 twice in reference to biological terrorism.<\/p>\n

But in an interview with ABC News<\/a> just hours after the twin towers fell, Biden, then-chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, said he warned planes could be hijacked and flown into buildings like the White House.<\/p>\n

\u201cLiterally as recently as yesterday, I spoke to the National Press Club and talked about the fact that it is just as easy to fly from National Airport into the White House as it is to, you know, do the same thing in New York,\u201d Biden said.<\/p>\n

He repeated this claim for years, boasting that he \u201cwarned about a massive attack on the United States of America from terrorists,\u201d and that he \u201cwasn\u2019t clairvoyant\u201d but \u201cknew what everybody else knew.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cOn Sept. 10, the day before the attacks on the towers, I made a speech to the National Press Club where I warned about a massive attack on the United States of America from terrorists; why I thought it would happ<\/a>en and why I thought our priorities were misplaced \u2014 the day before 9\/ 11,\u201d Biden said on the Senate floor in 2006.<\/p>\n

He repeated this in an other appearance at the National Press Club several months later.<\/p>\n

\u201cI spoke almost five years ago to the day, the day before 9\/11, and indicated what I thought the greatest threat was at that time. To state the obvious, I wasn\u2019t clairvoyant, but I knew what everybody else knew,\u201d the lawmaker said.<\/p>\n

The former veep and septuagenarian presidential hopeful has faced intense scrutiny of his foreign policy record since announcing his White House bid last April.<\/p>\n

Biden\u2019s history of making revisionist remarks has also come under fire after he claimed on last year\u2019s primary campaign trail that he was opposed to the Iraq War which he voted for \u2014 drawing the ire of primary opponent Bernie Sanders.<\/p>\n

In the wake of the Sept. 11 attacks, Biden also questioned whether it was worth going after the Taliban who were sheltering Al-Qaeda, telling Newsweek in Dec. 2011 they were \u201cnot our enemy.\u201d<\/p>\n

He even suggested to puzzled staffers that the US send a $200 million \u201cno strings attached\u201d check to Iran as a gesture of goodwill to the Arab world, per a New Republic report.<\/p>\n

Biden also flip-flopped on who was responsible for the atrocity, telling PBS in October 2001 that Islamist terrorism wouldn\u2019t be possible without funding from Saudi Arabia before he and Obama blocked legislation in 2016 that would have allowed victims of the attacks to sue Saudi Arabia.<\/p>\n

As Barack Obama\u2019s vice president, Biden also repeatedly changed his story on the perilous raid that killed al-Qaeda boss Osama bin Laden in 2011, warning his boss against it before claiming he supported it.<\/p>\n

In the months after bin Laden\u2019s death, Biden told Democratic donors behind closed doors that he had warned Obama to wait another week for better intelligence and recounted how he warned his boss \u201cdon\u2019t go,\u201d according to CBS News.<\/p>\n

In 2012 documentary \u201cThe Road We\u2019ve Travel<\/a>ed,\u201d Biden also warned that if Obama made the wrong move, his presidency would have been \u201cover.\u201d<\/p>\n

But several months later, the Scranton-born lawmaker said he actually advised Obama, \u201cfollow your instincts\u201d \u2014 omitting the fact he was opposed to the operation.<\/p>\n

\u201cI said, \u2018Follow your instincts, Mr. President.\u00a0 Your instincts have been close to unerring.\u00a0 Follow your instincts,’\u201d Biden told NBC\u2019s \u201cMeet the Press\u201d in May 2012. \u201cI wanted him to take one more day to do one more test to see if he was there.\u201d<\/p>\n

By 2015, Biden denied he told Obama not to go in front of other advisers and said he actually encouraged the strike.<\/p>\n

\u201cI told him my opinion that I thought he should go but follow his own instincts. But it would\u2019ve been a mistake,\u201d Biden told an audience in Washington, DC.<\/p>\n

\u201cImagine if I had said in front of everyone \u2018don\u2019t go\u2019 or \u2018go\u2019 and his decision was a different decision. It undercuts that relationship,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

Biden\u2019s two opposing accounts were noted at the time in various media<\/a> reports and in an interview with CBS News\u2019 Norah O\u2019Donnell who squeezed him on the inaccuracies. But Biden said he\u2019d simply \u201cnever told the whole story\u201d previously for fear of \u201cself-aggrandizing.\u201d<\/p>\n

And Obama himself said Biden was opposed to the raid in the 2012 presidential debates, as did then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton who wrote Biden was \u201cskeptical\u201d of the raid in her 2014 tome \u201cHard Choices.\u201d<\/p>\n

In a recent exclusive interview with The Post, bin Laden\u2019s niece came out in support of President Trump and lashed the foreign policy of the Obama-Biden administration, warning another 9\/11 could be around the corner if Biden became commander-in-chief.<\/p>\n

\u201cISIS proliferated under the Obama\/Biden administration, leading to them coming to Europe,\u201d Noor bin Ladin, 33, said.<\/p>\n

\u201cTrump has shown he protects America and us by extension from foreign threats by obliterating terrorists at the root and before they get a chance to strike.\u201d<\/p>\n

A Biden spokesperson did not immediately respond to request for comment.\n <\/p><\/div>\n
