Arriving October 18 via the Briton label Mr Bongo, the project is a powerful entrance for the Rio de Janeiro-based singer, songwriter, and composer. For those who waited patiently as her first run of <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.laidoffnyc.com\/dora-morelenbaum\/\">quiet, gorgeous singles<\/a> trickled to a halt in 2021, it\u2019s a vindication, emphatically exhibiting her star power as a soloist.<\/p>\n<div class=\"\" style=\"padding-bottom: 20px; margin-top: 20px; text-align: left;\">\n<\/div>\n<p>            Morelenbaum\u2019s bona fides have been established locally for some time. The album was co-produced by multi-hyphenate firebrand <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/anafrangoeletrico\/?hl=en\">Ana Frango El\u00e9trico<\/a>, and most of its tracks credit co-writers: Five were written with <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/tomlveloso\/?hl=en\">Tom Veloso<\/a> (another scion with massive shoes to fill), not including \u201cA Melhor Sa\u00edda,\u201d which Veloso wrote alone; two were crafted alongside Morelenbaum\u2019s fellow Bala member Ibarraok ; and S\u00e3o Paulo rocker <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/sophiachablau\/?hl=en\">Sophia Chablau<\/a> (of <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/sophiachablaueumaenormeperdade\/?hl=en\">Sophia Chablau e Uma Enorme Perda da Tempo<\/a>) penned the lyrics to \u201cVenha Conmigo,\u201d an anthem for spontaneous lovers.<\/p>\n<p>            \u201cI\u2019m gonna make the hours sleep \/ Put God to rest \/ There\u2019s no workday today \/ Let\u2019s be reckless, let\u2019s go to Ce\u00e1ra,\u201d Morelenbaum sings in Portuguese on the latter track over Alberto <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/albertocontinentino\/?hl=en\">Continentino<\/a>\u2019s sensuous bassline and <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/luizotavio.oficial\/?hl=en\">Luiz Ot\u00e1vio<\/a>\u2019s comfy Rhodes piano chords. Its opener\u2019s title, \u201cN\u00e3o Vou Te Esquecer,\u201d translates as \u201cI Won\u2019t Forget You,\u201d but the sentiment is complicated on the hook: \u201cN\u00e3o vou te esquecer nem te procurar,\u201d Morelenbaum croons; she\u2019ll always remember her past love, but she won\u2019t go looking for it again. Her instrumental accomp<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/anime-manga\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"6\" title=\"Anime || Manga\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">anime<\/a>nt is soft and slow and not without a fair dose of melancholy, but there\u2019s a swing to the accompaniment that feels more like moving on than dwelling. And her tone, while not exactly glowing, is honeyed and never quivers; the time for crying has passed.<\/p>\n<p>            The mood of closing track \u201cNem Te Procurar,\u201d meanwhile, is ecstatic \u2014 so much so that its manic cheeriness can feel forced at times. The song runs through the same lyrical content as its original version in roughly two-thirds of the time; Morelenbaum moves at a breathy, breakneck clip while her 21-piece backing band rush to keep pace (they do so seamlessly, of course). The snappy, almost slapstick funk \u2014 the New Orleans kind, not the baile variety \u2014 of \u201cSim, N\u00e3o\u201d (\u201cYes, No\u201d) underscores a story of unrequited love: \u201cTo resign myself without pain \/ From the objects on the floor \/ To wait for the YES \/ And receive the NO.\u201d A similar trick is played on \u201cCaco,\u201d which hides a warning to steel oneself against the sting of rejection behind a rapturous choral refrain.
