\n\tTony Todd, an actor who starred in the Candyman<\/em> and Final Destination<\/em> horror franchises, has died. He was 69.<\/p>\n

\n\tHe died Wednesday at his home in Marina del Rey after a long illness, his wife, Fatima, told The Hollywood Reporter<\/em>.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThe industry has lost a legend. We have lost a cherished friend. Rest in peace, Tony, -Your Final Destination Family,\u201d New Line Cinema, which produced the Final Destination<\/em> franchise, wrote<\/a> on Instagram.<\/p>\n

\n\tBorn on Dec. 4, 1954, in Washington, D.C., Todd went on to study for two years at the University of Connecticut before getting a scholarship for the Eugene O\u2019Neill\u00a0National Theatre Institute. His time there helped lay a foundation for his later stints at the then-Hartman Conservatory in Stamford, Connecticut, and the Trinity Repertory Company in Providence, Rhode Island. <\/p>\n

\n\tTodd made his film debut in 1986\u2019s Sleepwalk<\/em>, launching an acting career spanning more than 200 television and movie credits. His most notable role was in 1992\u2019s Candyman<\/em>, which saw him play the eponymous hook-wielding ghost. He later returned for 1995\u2019s Candyman: Farewell to the Flesh<\/em>, and app<\/a>eared in the 2021 remake. Todd also took on the role of William Bludworth\u00a0in 2000\u2019s Final Destination<\/em>, 2003\u2019s Final Destination 2<\/em> and 2011\u2019s Final Destination 5<\/em>.<\/p>\n

\n\tHis other acting credits include 1990\u2019s Night of the Living Dead<\/em>, 1996\u2019s The Rock<\/em>, 1994\u2019s The Crow<\/em>, 2006\u2019s Hatchet<\/em>, 2007\u2019s The Man from Earth<\/em>, 2010\u2019s Hatchet II<\/em>, The Flash<\/em>, 2015\u2019s Frankenstein<\/em>, 2018\u2019s Hell Fest<\/em>, 2018\u2019s Requiem<\/em>, 2022\u2019s Hellblazers <\/em>and 2024\u2019s The Bunker<\/em>. He also voiced Kurn on Star Trek: The Next Generation<\/em> and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine<\/em>, and Alpha Hirogen in Star Trek: Voyager<\/em>. His IMDb profile also lists more than nine titles currently in post-production.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cTony was a masterful actor who was truly chameleonic; he prepared for every role with the utmost meticulousness,\u201d Rel Dowdell, the director of Film Studies at Hampton University who directed him in 2012\u2019s\u00a0Changing the Game<\/a><\/em>, said in a statement. \u201cHe was truly one of a kind.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tIn addition to his wife, Fatima, Todd is survived by his two children, Alex and Ariana.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
