While that isn\u2019t a staggering number, it gives brands and businesses a new opportunity to reach consumers. However, it remains to be seen how Perplexity users \u2013 many of whom ditched Google at least in part because of advertising \u2013\u00a0will respond.<\/p>\n<p><strong>By the numbers.<\/strong> A Perplexity <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2024\/08\/22\/perplexity-ai-plans-to-start-running-search-ads-in-fourth-quarter.html\">pitch deck<\/a> highlighted that:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>80% of its users have an undergraduate degree.<\/li>\n<li>30% hold a \u201csenior leadership position.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>65% are in \u201chigh-income white-collar professions,\u201d (e.g., medicine, law and software engineering).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>First ad partners.<\/strong> Indeed, Whole Foods Market, Universal McCann and PMG are among the first brands and agencies testing Perplexity\u2019s new ad offering, the company said.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Why ads.<\/strong> Perplexity said it is testing ads because:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>\u201cAd programs like this help us generate revenue to share with our publisher partners.
