reputation abuse policy, with several frequently asked questions. The questions can be <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/developers.google.com\/search\/blog\/2024\/11\/site-reputation-abuse#faq\">found over here<\/a> and they cover what is third-party content, questions about freelancers, affiliate content, moving content, noindexing content and more.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-faqs\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"FAQs\"><\/span>FAQs:<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Here are the list of FAQs posted on December 6, 2024 on this blog post:<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"what-is-3p-content\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"What_is_third-party_content\"><\/span>What is third-party content?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Third-party content is content created by a separate entity than the host site. Examples of separate entities include users of that site, freelancers, white-label services, content created by people not employed directly by the host site, and other examples listed in the\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/developers.google.com\/search\/docs\/essentials\/spam-policies#site-reputation\">site reputation policy<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"does-3p-content-violate-policy\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Does_the_use_of_any_third-party_content_violate_the_site_reputation_abuse_policy\"><\/span>Does the use of any third-party content violate the site reputation abuse policy?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>No, having third-party content alone is not a violation of the site reputation abuse policy. It\u2019s only a violation if the content is being published in an attempt to\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/developers.google.com\/search\/blog\/2024\/11\/site-reputation-abuse#abuse-search-rankings\">abuse search rankings<\/a>\u00a0by taking advantage of the host site\u2019s ranking signals. Our\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/developers.google.com\/search\/docs\/essentials\/spam-policies#site-reputation\">policy page<\/a>\u00a0has examples of third-party content use that doesn\u2019t violate the policy.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"freelance-content\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Does_freelance_content_violate_the_site_reputation_abuse_policy\"><\/span>Does freelance content violate the site reputation abuse policy?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>No, while freelance content is third-party content, freelance content alone is not a violation of the site reputation abuse policy. It is only a violation if there is\u00a0<strong>ALSO<\/strong>\u00a0an attempt to\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/developers.google.com\/search\/blog\/2024\/11\/site-reputation-abuse#abuse-search-rankings\">abuse search rankings<\/a>\u00a0by taking advantage of the host site\u2019s ranking signals.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"affiliate-content\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Does_affiliate_content_violate_the_site_reputation_abuse_policy\"><\/span>Does affiliate content violate the site reputation abuse policy?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>No, the policy is not about targeting affiliate content. The\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/developers.google.com\/search\/docs\/essentials\/spam-policies#site-reputation\">documentation<\/a>\u00a0about the policy notes that affiliate links\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/developers.google.com\/search\/docs\/crawling-indexing\/qualify-outbound-links\">marked appropriately<\/a>\u00a0aren\u2019t considered site reputation abuse.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"abuse-search-rankings\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"What_does_it_mean_to_abuse_search_rankings_by_taking_advantage_of_the_host_sites_ranking_signals\"><\/span>What does it mean to abuse search rankings by taking advantage of the host site\u2019s ranking signals?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>This is when third-party content is being placed on an established site to take advantage of that site\u2019s ranking signals \u2014 which the site has earned primarily from its first party content \u2014 rather than placing the content on a separate site that lacks the same signals.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"noindex\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"If_I_noindex_the_content_does_that_mean_the_manual_action_automatically_gets_removed\"><\/span>If I\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/developers.google.com\/search\/docs\/crawling-indexing\/block-indexing\"><code>noindex<\/code><\/a>\u00a0the content,\u00a0does that mean the manual action automatically gets removed?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>No. You still need to reply to the manual action in Search Console and explain that the content has been noindexed. We recommend doing this rather than letting the manual action remain against your site.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"moving-content\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"If_I_move_content_thats_received_a_manual_action_to_a_new_location_will_that_resolve_the_site_reputation_abuse_issue\"><\/span>If I move content that\u2019s received a manual action to a new location,\u00a0will that resolve the site reputation abuse issue?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Maybe, but it depends on where you move it to:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Moving content to a subdirectory or subdomain within the same site\u2019s domain name<\/strong>: This doesn\u2019t resolve the underlying issue and may be viewed as an\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/developers.google.com\/search\/docs\/essentials\/spam-policies#policy-circumvension\">attempt to circumvent<\/a>\u00a0our spam policy, which may lead to broader actions against a site in Google Search.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Moving content to another established site<\/strong>: This will resolve the site reputation abuse issue for the site it was removed from, as the site reputation of that site is no longer being abused.
