Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>roach for building topic authority in SEO.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Even without the benefits of keeping content organized and easy to expand, it encourages SEOs to prioritize user intent and relevance over just focusing on ranking for specific keywords.<\/p>\n<p>Topic clustering is becoming more common in SEO, but that does not mean everyone is doing it well.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>This article covers a few common mistakes I see in topic clusters \u2013 and explains the benefits of a better approach. Those include:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Missing internal linking and other UX opportunities.<\/li>\n<li>Staying too shallow (or even going too deep) with the clusters.<\/li>\n<li>Hitting on the right idea with the wrong approach.<\/li>\n<li>Trusting the content to speak for itself.<\/li>\n<li>Forgetting to refresh and update your clusters.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The good <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/news\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"2\" title=\"News\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">news<\/a> is that all these mistakes are preventable and fixable. In most cases, the issue is that the cluster isn\u2019t detailed enough, leaving valuable authority untapped.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>On the other hand, if adding more detail doesn\u2019t increase engagement (e.g., subtopics get less interest than the main page), it\u2019s better to stop.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Similarly, avoid covering topics that don\u2019t connect back to your product or service. It\u2019s easy to skip levels of intent and try to go right for the sale. (Or, on the B2B side, the \u201cbook a demo\u201d CTA.) But it won\u2019t serve your long-term strategy or your relationship with your users.<\/p>\n<p>Without understanding and targeting the correct user intent, your content may fail to resonate with potential customers.<\/p>\n<p>If users have educational questions, like \u201cdo organic products clean as well as non-organic,\u201d create content that explains the differences in ingredients and why you\u2019ve chosen them instead of just linking to a product page.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Similarly, for mid-funnel queries like \u201chow to remove motor oil stains,\u201d focus on content like buying guides or articles on ingredients that target oil rather than just product pages.<\/p>\n<p>To see what kind of content users find helpful, search the query on Google and check what ranks high. Use this information to improve your topic clusters.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-mistake-4-trusting-the-content-to-speak-for-itself\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Mistake_4_Trusting_the_content_to_speak_for_itself\"><\/span>Mistake 4: Trusting the content to speak for itself<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>My hope for your brand is that you produce such incredible multi<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">media<\/a> content that you can ride content quality all the way to record-setting engagement goals.<\/p>\n<p>Let me tell you why that\u2019s not realistic: you also need to build authority through your content authors.
