It does routine inspections in some of the toughest places on Earth. Think old <\/span><a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=Ql34bXZb-70%5C\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">nuclear power plants<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, abandoned mines, and offshore oil rigs.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Cameras, sensors and gas detectors act as the robodog\u2019s eyes and nose \u2014 spotting obstacles, and potential safety hazards, and even sniffing out gas leaks. Sign up now!<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">ANYmal is so good at its job, that some of the world\u2019s biggest industrial companies \u2014 the likes of BP, Equinor, and Petrobas \u2014 have adopted it as part of their workforce.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">ANYmal\u2019s human master is ANYbotics, a company spun out from ETH Zurich in 2016. The startup has just raised $60mn to build more inspection robots and make them smarter.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Currently, close to 200 ANYmal\u2019s are deployed at worksites across the world. As of last year, the company <\/span><a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/sifted.eu\/articles\/anybotics-raise-50m-ai-led-robo-workforce-news\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">reported<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> having more than $150mn in pre-orders.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cThis additional funding allows us to scale globally, enhance our AI-driven capabilities, and continue to deliver unmatched value to our customers across industries,\u201d said Dr. P\u00e9ter Fankhauser, the company\u2019s co-founder and CEO.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">ANYbotics recently opened an office in Silicon Valley to tackle the American market. This will put it into closer competition with Spot, which also does its fair share of industrial inspections.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The company said it is investing in software and hardware development, including new, built-in GPUs intended to make ANYmal faster at processing information, detecting anomalies and overall making it better at its job. ANYbotics trains its robot using AI computing from Nvidia.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This latest funding brings ANYbotics\u2019 total raised to over $130mn.
