\n\tEver since her movie Thelma<\/em> premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in January, June Squibb has gotten a kick out of the response that\u2019s been repeated over and over again this year. <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cPeople have really made a big deal about the fact that it was my first leading role,\u201d says the veteran actress, who turned 95 in November, of Josh Margolin\u2019s senior citizen dramedy. \u201cEverybody has laughingly said it over and over. People are impressed with that, and as much as anything else, they\u2019re impressed by the fact that I\u2019m still going.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tStill going is one way to put it. Squibb has been churning out the work in 2024 with roles in Don\u2019t Tell Mom the Babysitter\u2019s Dead, Velma, Inside Out 2, American Horror Stories<\/em> and Lost & Found in Cleveland<\/em>. There\u2019s more to come in the new year.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI do have some work that I\u2019ve been asked to do though it\u2019s not set yet,\u201d Squibb told The Hollywood Reporter<\/em> on the red carpet at the recent Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Science<\/a>s women\u2019s luncheon in partnership with Chanel at the Academy Museum. <\/p>\n

\n\tShe\u2019s been at it long enough to know not to spoil a deal before its fully negotiated so Squibb changed the subject to the next big role that\u2019s already been reported: Squibb takes on the title role in Scarlett Johansson\u2018s directorial debut Eleanor the Great<\/em> opposite Chiwetel Ejiofor, Jessica Hecht and Erin Kellyman. <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI\u2019m very excited about that. To have movies<\/a> like Thelma<\/em> and Eleanor the Great<\/em>, you don\u2019t often have two in a row like these, I\u2019ll tell you that,\u201d said the actress who experienced a career bump thanks to an Oscar nominated turn opposite Bruce Dern in Alexander Payne\u2019s Nebraska<\/em>. <\/p>\n

\n\tWritten by Tory Kamen, Eleanor<\/em> follows Eleanor Morgenstein, a 90-year-old woman as she attempts to rebuild her life after the death of her best friend. As a result, she moves back to New York City after living in Florida for many years. <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cShe was wonderful,\u201d Squibb says of Johansson. \u201cWith her knowledge as an actress, she knew immedia<\/a>tely what I was doing, where I was going and how I was shifting everything. That\u2019s wonderful because you don\u2019t often have that. I\u2019ve worked with wonderful directors that don\u2019t have that kind of knowledge like Scarlett does, so this was something very special.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\tSquibb said that she and Johansson got along immediately. \u201cYou just have to love her. She\u2019s so down-to-Earth. She is so real. We really met on that level, the two of us, because we are both that way.\u201d <\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
