\n\tAs a series<\/a> of devastating wildfires continued to burn across Los Angeles on Wednesday, various organizations began to mobilize aid efforts, including ones intended for first responders and for members of the entertainment community impacted by the natural disaster. <\/p>\n

\n\tThe active wildfires in L.A. County, which include the\u00a0Palisades fire, the Eaton, Hurst and Woodley fires, (see photos) are at zero percent containment and have lead to more than 30,000 evacuations and at least two deaths.<\/p>\n

\n\tHere are some of the organizations collecting donations and offering help:<\/p>\n

\n\tDefy:Disaster, a program of the Entertainment Industry Foundation (EIF), is accepting donations<\/a> from members of the entertainment community and the public to offer support to firefighters, first responders, and neighborhoods affected by the fires. EIF, which was founded in 1942, has a long history of disaster response\u2014after the deadly Camp and Woolsey Fires in 2018, the organization directed more than $2 million to first responders across California, as well as other organizations that provide long-term aid to survivors. \u201cOur hearts go out to all who have lost their homes and those who are uncertain what the days ahead will hold,\u201d EIF President and CEO Nicole Sexton said in a statement. \u201cThere is an urgent need to provide shelter, food and water, medical care for individuals and families, as well as care for pets that have been displaced.\u201d In 2023, Oprah Winfrey and Dwayne Johnson launched People\u2019s Fund of Maui, administered by EIF. That fund supported those who lost homes in the fires in Lahaina and Kula, delivering $60 million to residents\u2019 bank accounts in six months.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe Screen Actors Guild, which\u00a0canceled Wednesday\u2019s live, in-person announcement of the SAG Awards nominations\u00a0due to the fires, is accepting donations to the\u00a0SAG-AFTRA Foundation\u2019s natural disaster relief fund<\/a>\u00a0to help the SAG-AFTRA community.<\/p>\n

\n\tGoFundMe has established a growing\u00a0hub<\/a>\u00a0for its verified pages related to the local wildfires. One fundraiser is to assist the non-profit canine rescue Rags2Wags. \u201cThe Palisades fire has forced an evacuation of the rescue,\u201d the page explains. \u201cGetting each dog into a safe and app<\/a>ropriate location is both difficult and expensive.\u201d Other efforts describe losing homes and belongings in bluntly personal terms. \u201cThe fire took everything,\u201d one organizer explains of her mother\u2019s plight.<\/p>\n
