\n\tDennis Quaid shared that he has \u201cso many friends\u201d who have lost their homes in the wildfires continuing to plow through Los Angeles neighborhoods.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe Substance<\/em> actor was stopped by NBC4 Los Angeles<\/a><\/em> on Friday as he was evacuating his Brentwood home, and opened up about the impact of the devastation on those close to him.<\/p>\n

\n\tQuaid first recalled waking up to a \u201cplume of smoke\u201d on Tuesday, adding that the blaze \u201ccame within 150 yards of the house and these guys with their planes came down and put that retardant down there. And those helicopter pilots, they\u2019re incredible, what they do. And I can\u2019t say enough about the firefighters and the first responders in this town. We got some good ones, good people here.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tHe added that he, his wife, Laura Savoie, and children have \u201chad it lucky\u201d over the past few days.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI\u2019ve have so many friends who have lost (homes),\u201d Quaid explained, with a shaky voice. My agent, he lost both of his houses, and another good friend over at Palisades had just moved into a house and was renting the other one. He lost both of them.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cWhat do you do, just to rebuild?\u201d he pondered. \u201cYou start thinking about how long it takes to put a house together and then you can\u2019t really hold it in your mind.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe Parent Trap<\/em> star was later asked what he thinks it will look like when Hollywood comes together to respond and rebuild after the fires are contained.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cAll the businesses, the dry cleaners, the grocery stores, the gardeners that work in this area, all the construction workers, you know, your convenience store, your gas station\u2026 it\u2019s all of us, we\u2019re all Hollywood,\u201d Quaid responded. \u201cEverybody wants to come here. It\u2019s a great community when we come together and I know we can do it.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tHe added, \u201cWe\u2019re fighting as hard as we can to save our city. Gosh, I never thought I\u2019d say that. But that\u2019s what\u2019s going on.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThousands of homes, businesses and buildings have been destroyed in the wildfires that initially broke out Tuesday in\u00a0Pacific Palisades\u00a0before spreading to parts of Malibu and Santa Monica overnight. Since then, first responders have been working tirelessly to contain the Palisades Fire, in addition to other active wildfires erupting across Los Angeles County, including the Eaton, Hurst and\u00a0Kenneth\u00a0fires. The\u00a0death toll has also risen\u00a0to 11 people, the\u00a0Los Angeles\u00a0Medical Examiner\u2019s Office said Friday.<\/p>\n

\n\tAmong the thousands who have lost their homes to the flames are numerous celebrities, many who have taken to social media<\/a> to share the devastation left behind in their communities and neighborhoods.<\/p>\n

\n\tAs of Saturday evening, the Kenneth Fire was 90 percent contained; the Palisades Fire near the coastline was 11 percent contained; and the Eaton Fire was 15 percent contained. The Hurst Fire, south of Santa Clarita, was 76 percent contained.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
