It raised questions about the accuracy of metrics advertisers rely on when spending money on social platforms.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The big picture.<\/strong> Advertisers allege Meta fraudulently inflated its \u201cpotential reach\u201d numbers by up to 400% by counting multiple accounts belonging to the same users.<\/p>\n<p><strong>By the numbers:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The class action could exceed $7 billion in damages.<\/li>\n<li>The case covers ads purchased since Aug. 15, 2014.<\/li>\n<li>Meta generated $116.1 billion in ad revenue in the first 9 months of 2024.<\/li>\n<li>Millions of individuals and businesses could be part of the class.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Why we care.<\/strong> This lawsuit could expose Meta\u2019s potential overstatement of ad reach by up to 400%.
