\n Damian Lillard was nearly a Knick. At least, that\u2019s what the Trail Blazers All-Star point guard believes.<\/p>\n

\u201cI thought I was headed there a few years ago; I was hearing trade rumors,\u201d Lillard said in an interview with Vanity Fair. \u201cThe Garden is my favorite place to play.\u201d<\/p>\n

It\u2019s unclear when exactly he was referring to, but missing out on the 29-year-old Lillard wouldn\u2019t be the first time the Knicks failed to land a star point guard. They nearly traded for Raptors point guard Kyle Lowry in 2013. In 2018, ESPN\u2019s Stephen A. Smith said that if Lillard didn\u2019t stay in Portland, his two preferred destinations were the Knicks and Lakers.<\/p>\n

The Knicks obviously wouldn\u2019t be in the market for a point guard if that deal went down. Lillard is a five-time All-Star and four-time All-NBA selection. Lillard is under contract through the 2024-25 season and the Knicks remain desperately in need of a floor general<\/a>.\n <\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
