It was later revealed that the r<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>er, whose real name is Rakim Mayers, was accused of firing a gun multiple times at former A$AP Mob member A$AP Relli (Terell Ephron) during a meeting in November 2021. The altercation has since bloomed into a multi-pronged legal case for the rapper who\u2019s been charged with two counts of assault with a semiautomatic firearm. Rocky has pleaded not guilty to both charges. Separately, Rocky is also facing a civil lawsuit from Relli, who has accused Rocky and his lawyer Joe Tacopina of defamation.\n          <\/p>\n<p>\n            A$AP Rocky\u2019s trial on the gun charges began today, January 21, with jury selection at Los Angeles County Superior Court. If convicted at trial, Mayers could face up to nine years in prison.\n          <\/p>\n<p>\n            Below take a look at how the trial is set to take shape as well as everything we know so far about the case.\n          <\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<style>\n<\/style>\n<div id=\"content_block-267002\" class=\"content_block paragraph text triple_gutter_right triple_gutter_left center_align\">\n<div class=\"content_inner_wrapper\">\n<h5 class=\"headline\" style=\"margin-bottom: 30px;\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"When_did_AAP_Rockys_trial_begin\"><\/span>\n        When did A$AP Rocky\u2019s trial begin?<br \/>\n      <span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h5>\n<div class=\"paragraph_wrapper center_align\">\n<p>\n            Jury selection took place on Tuesday, January 21, 2025 with opening statements expected the following day. Superior Court Judge Mark Arnold said at a pretrial hearing that he aims to seat the jury as quickly as possible. \u201cI will let the jurors know that regardless of who a defendant is, whether they\u2019re the richest person in the world or the poorest person, everybody is to be treated the same,\u201d he said, <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_new\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/asap-rocky-trial-day-1-4a7e46f75077b419214404d64c96e300\">per the Associated Press<\/a>.\n          <\/p>\n<p>\n            Arnold also confirmed that he expects Rocky to appear daily and will allow filming in court for the duration of the trial.\n          <\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<style>\n<\/style>\n<div id=\"content_block-267011\" class=\"content_block paragraph text triple_gutter_right triple_gutter_left center_align\">\n<div class=\"content_inner_wrapper\">\n<div class=\"paragraph_wrapper center_align\">\n<div class=\"\" style=\"padding-bottom: 20px; margin-top: 20px; text-align: left;\">\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<style>\n<\/style>\n<div id=\"content_block-267003\" class=\"content_block paragraph text triple_gutter_right triple_gutter_left center_align\">\n<div class=\"content_inner_wrapper\">\n<h5 class=\"headline\" style=\"margin-bottom: 30px;\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"What_exactly_is_AAP_Rocky_charged_with\"><\/span>\n        What exactly is A$AP Rocky charged with?<br \/>\n      <span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h5>\n<div class=\"paragraph_wrapper center_align\">\n<p>\n            Rocky has pleaded not guilty to two felony counts of assault with a semiautomatic firearm. It is alleged that he fired shots at former friend A$AP Relli (Terell Ephron) on November 6, 2021. <br \/>Video of the alleged incident was shown at a preliminary hearing in late 2023. In it prosecutors allege Rocky fired a weapon at Ephron at the corner of Selma Avenue and Vista Del Mar Avenue in Hollywood. The altercation between the two men is alleged to have begun at a parking lot a block away.\n          <\/p>\n<p>\n            Attorneys Jamal Tooson and Brian Hurwitz claimed Rocky invited Ephron to \u201cdiscuss a disagreement between the two of them\u201d and that the rapper arrived with a semi-automatic handgun: \u201cAfter arriving at the location, a conversation ensued whereby without provocation, warning, or any justification, A$AP Rocky produced the handgun and intentionally fired multiple shots at Mr. Ephron.\u201d One of the bullets is alleged to have grazed the former A$AP Mob member\u2019s left hand. \n          <\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<style>\n<\/style>\n<div id=\"content_block-267004\" class=\"content_block paragraph text triple_gutter_right triple_gutter_left center_align\">\n<div class=\"content_inner_wrapper\">\n<h5 class=\"headline\" style=\"margin-bottom: 30px;\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Who_is_representing_AAP_Rocky_and_what_does_he_say\"><\/span>\n        Who is representing A$AP Rocky and what does he say?<br \/>\n      <span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h5>\n<div class=\"paragraph_wrapper center_align\">\n<p>\n            Defense lawyer Joe Tacopina will handle the case, having previously represented Donald Trump in his hush money trial. Tacopina withdrew from that case in January 2024. He has also represented rappers Meek Mill and YG in court and has said he is confident in securing victory for Rocky in his upcoming trial. He has called the case against his client \u201cfundamentally weak\u201d and his defense position \u201cvery, very strong.\u201d\n          <\/p>\n<p>\n            Tacopina has also accused Ephron and his team of being motivated by financial gain, <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_new\" href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/tacopinalaw\/reel\/DE6EQGZSRrF\/\">saying<\/a>, \u201cI think this is in large part about money, money, money. And there\u2019s jealousy, obviously. He\u2019s made that clear. Separately, Ephron has hired Camille Vasquez, the attorney who represented Johnny Depp in his defamation trial against ex-wife Amber Heard. In 2023.
