\n\tSphere Media<\/a>,\u00a0a Canadian TV and film producer,\u00a0has secured the rights to\u00a0Dancing With Diana: A Memoir<\/em>\u00a0by Scottish\/Canadian dancer\u00a0Anne Allan, who was Princess Diana\u2018s top secret dance teacher and co-choreographed a legendary\u00a0Uptown Girl<\/em>\u00a0routine at Covent Garden for her. Glasgow-based Two Rivers Media and Sphere have struck their first co-production deal to make a 90-minute feature documentary based on the memoir, published last year, they said on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

Sphere Abacus will distribute the documentary globally.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThe documentary will chronicle the nine-year period from early 1981 when Allan served as Princess Diana\u2019s private \u2014 and top secret \u2014 dance teacher,\u201d according to a descript<\/a>ion of the project. \u201cOver hundreds of weekly one-hour lessons at a private dance studio, teacher and pupil forged a close friendship as Diana negotiated stratospheric fame, the joy of motherhood, her crumbling marriage and her struggle with bulimia. In her role as confidante as well as teacher, Allan gained a unique insight into the princess\u2019s life, challenges, passions and achievements.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tSaid Allan:\u00a0\u201cI am thrilled that Sphere Media and Two Rivers Media have chosen to bring to screen\u00a0Dancing with Diana.\u00a0<\/em>As a Glaswegian who lives in Canada, this is a very special partnership for me, that I\u2019m so looking forward to seeing realized!\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tShe added: \u201cDuring my time with the Princess, I was so fortunate to witness not only Diana\u2019s profound love of dance, but a much more personal side of her. I hope that viewers of the documentary will appreciate this fresh look as well as discover a deeper understanding of just how extraordinary she was.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe producers promise that the documentary\u00a0will include never-before-seen archival material, including photographs, personal gifts and notes from the princess. It will also feature \u201cnew\u00a0interviews with royal insiders, celebrities, Hollywood A-listers and several of Diana\u2019s closest friends.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\tSeen through the lens of Allan\u2019s memories, the audience will be guided through \u201cDiana\u2019s transformation from shy newlywed to global superstar \u2014 a woman with the skill and confidence to dance in front of the world to Billy Joel\u2019s\u00a0Uptown Girl<\/em>\u00a0at London\u2019s Royal Opera House, partnered by Wayne Sleep, and take to the floor with John Travolta at The White House,\u201d the companies said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
