2Pac\u2018s alleged killer, Duane \u201cKeefe D\u201d Davis, will have to face charges after all, now that a judge has decided that he does not have immunity.<\/p>\n
According to Clark County, Nevada District Court records viewed by\u00a0HipHopDX<\/em>, on Tuesday (January 21), Judge Carli Kierny denied Keefe D\u2019s motion to dismiss the charges against him.<\/p>\n AD LOADING…<\/p>\n<\/div>\n The motion to dismiss was filed on January 6. In it, the former gang member claims that his constitutional rights have been violated through an \u201cunjustified\u201d delay in proceedings, which have led to \u201cdimming of memories, the death or disapp<\/a>earance of witnesses, and the loss or destruction of material physical evidence.\u201d<\/p>\n According to\u00a0ABC News<\/a>, Keefe\u2019s attorney argued that the facts in the case have been in possession of Las Vegas police since 2009 and that the delay in charing him has \u201cirreversibly\u201d compromised his right to a fair trial.<\/p>\n The motion also claims that prosecutors have no evidence beyond Keefe D\u2019s own testimony due to the death or incarceration of others associated with the 1996 killing, such as Death Row Records co-founder Suge Knight and his former rival Diddy, who\u00a0Keefe once claimed ordered Pac\u2019s murder.<\/p>\n The filing further argues that Keefe D was initially offered an immunity agreement by the authorities, which enticed him to give them details relating to the fatal shooting. One of those agreements was reportedly<\/a> with the LAPD as part of their investigation into the murder of The Notorious B.I.G.<\/p>\n Prosecutors denied there was any proof of such agreements.<\/p>\n After the decision, Keefe\u2019s lawyer Carl Arnold addressed the media<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cThere\u2019s no evidence that he was involved [in Pac\u2019s murder],\u201d he said. \u201cHe did what Detective [Greg] Kading did: he put out a book, and he made money. Even the state\u2019s main investigation that testified at the grand jury said this is all about making money.\u201d<\/p>\n Keefe wrote about Pac\u2019s murder in his 2019 book\u00a0Compton Street Legend<\/em>, though his attorneys later claimed that prosecutors \u201cdid not delineate which parts of the book, if any, were written by Duane\u201d as opposed to his co-author.<\/p>\n They also said that statements he made regarding\u00a02Pac\u2019s\u00a0murder were just for \u201centertainment purposes.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n If you liked the article, do not forget to share it with your friends.
