This demand is filtering down into the corporate travel startup space, too, and investors are taking note. In September, <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/news\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"2\" title=\"News\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">news<\/a> emerged that Denver-based <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/engine.com\/\">Engine<\/a>, which focuses on hotel bookings, flights, car rentals, and meeting spaces, <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.globenewswire.com\/news-release\/2024\/09\/17\/2947398\/0\/en\/Hotel-Engine-Achieves-2-1B-Valuation-With-140M-Permira-Investment.html\">had raised $140 million at a $2.1 billion valuation<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">TravelPerk, for its part, touts an all-in-one platform for businesses to book, manage and report all their domestic and international travel, with integrations\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.travelperk.com\/travel-solutions\/marketplace\/\">that extend the platform<\/a>\u00a0to functions <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.travelperk.com\/partnership\/hibob\/\">such as HR<\/a> and <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.travelperk.com\/partnership\/spendesk\/\">expenses<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">While the pandemic has had an indelible impact on working culture in terms of remote and hybrid-working, there is little correlation between this and the the kind of corporate travel that TravelPerk is concerned with. TravelPerk president and chief operating officer, <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/jean-christophe-taunay-bucalo-56282b22\/\">Jean-Christophe Taunay-Bucalo<\/a>, pointed to its recent <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.travelperk.com\/value-of-business-travel-report\/\">Value of Business Travel<\/a> report, which found that companies are still planning to invest in travel to boost sales and new business efforts, such as by traveling to conferences.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cHybrid and remote working models have had a minimal impact on demand for business travel \u2014 those who are travelling for work will continue to do so, because it\u2019s part of their job,\u201d Taunay-Bucalo told TechCrunch over email. \u201cWhether it\u2019s for a sales meeting or to install a wind turbine, there are many situations where workers need to be on the ground and in person.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">However, a more distributed workforce does mean that companies are investing more in offsites, which require travel. And TravelPerk sees this decentralization as a perfect opportunity to gets its <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/technology\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"4\" title=\"Technology\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">technology<\/a> into the hands of more people. <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cDecentralised travel systems empower employees to manage their own bookings, and while in the past that meant a lack of control over expenses and compliance, tools built into our platform give control and visibility back to the business by providing oversight without burdening travel managers with logistical complexities,\u201d Taunay-Bucalo said.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1870\" height=\"1180\" src=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/TravelPerk-e1737990535143.png?w=680\" alt=\"TravelPerk\" class=\"wp-image-2953631\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><span class=\"wp-element-caption__text\">TravelPerk<\/span><span class=\"wp-block-image__credits\"><strong>Image Credits:<\/strong>TravelPerk<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-unified-travel-and-expense\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"%E2%80%9CUnified_travel_and_expense%E2%80%9D\"><\/span>\u201cUnified travel and expense\u201d<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Founded in 2015, TravelPerk\u00a0had previously raised around $660 million in equity and debt capital, and with another $200 million in the bank, the company said it\u2019s now doubling down on its global growth plans. This includes the U.S. market, where it <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.travelperk.com\/uk\/press-release\/travelperk-acquires-amtrav\/\">acquired Chicago-based rival Amtrav<\/a> last year with support from $135 million in debt financing.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But these growth efforts also include expanding into tangential verticals. Among TravelPerk\u2019s <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.travelperk.com\/partnership\/yokoy\/\">existing integrations<\/a> is Yokoy, an AI-enabled spend management platform <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/yokoy.io\/news\/series-b\/\">backed by Sequoia Capital<\/a>. For example, TripActions expanded into expenses management back in 2020 in response to a pandemic that put most companies\u2019 travel plans on long-term hiatus. Ramp, meanwhile, moved in the opposite direction in 2022, adding travel management to its existing expenses product.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Expanding into expenses makes a great deal of sense, as it future-proofs against whatever headwinds the travel sector faces today and in the future.
