\n\tNearly two years after Ke Huy Quan won an Oscar for his supporting role in Everything Everywhere All At Once<\/em>, he is back on the big screen in his first leading man role. <\/p>\n

\n\tQuan stars in Universal\u2019s Love Hurts<\/em> as Marvin Gable, a successful realtor whose past as a violent hitman comes back to haunt him. He initially turned down the romantic action comedy several times, admitting at the film\u2018s Los Angeles premiere on Monday, \u201cI didn\u2019t see myself as Marvin Gable because he\u2019s the leading man and he\u2019s No. 1 and he\u2019s the action star. When I was younger, I wanted to be him, but because I didn\u2019t get the chance I thought I wasn\u2019t right for it.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tA conversation with Steven Spielberg \u2014 the two worked together on 1984\u2019s Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom<\/em> \u2014 convinced him to take the chance and be No. 1 on the call sheet for the first time. <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThe very first day on set, one thing was on my mind, because I know how it was done with Harrison Ford, Tom Hiddleston, all of those incredible actors who are always No. 1 on set, and seeing how they treat the entire cast and crew,\u201d Quan told The Hollywood Reporter<\/em>. \u201cSo I wanted to make sure that everybody felt loved and welcomed and part of the family. No matter what they do on set, their job is just as important as mine.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\tHe added, \u201cI learned something from Jamie Lee Curtis working on Everything Everywhere All At Once<\/em>; When we had a really difficult and tough week, she would give the entire cast and crew a treat. She would buy out a hot dog truck or a bagel truck, and we were in Canada so I would rent a pizza truck because I just wanted to show them how app<\/a>reciative I am of them. So I learned from the best.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\tThe premiere also featured a Goonies <\/em>reunion on the red carpet, as Quan was joined by Sean Astin, Jeff Cohen, Kerri Green and Corey Feldman. Astin, who has a small role in the new film, spoke of watching Quan\u2019s career explode now 40 years after The Goonies<\/em>. <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThe Ke dream journey just keeps going,\u201d Astin said. \u201cI think the whole Oscar year was this massive, exploding emotional thing; now, he\u2019s right where he\u2019s supposed to be. He\u2019s right where he should have been for the last 25 years.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\tLove Hurts<\/em> hits theaters on Friday. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n
