Thursday, the 6th. \u2018Til then, I\u2019m just chillin.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Lil Wayne promises \u201csomething exciting\u201d &amp; \u201cspecial\u201d during Super Bowl week <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/rpnK6C6P6X\">pic.twitter.com\/rpnK6C6P6X<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 HipHopDX (@HipHopDX) <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/HipHopDX\/status\/1886886531157143720?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">February 4, 2025<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><script async=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>There\u2019s been a bit of friction between Wayne and Kendrick leading up to Super Bowl LIX on Sunday (February 9).<\/p>\n<p>After Kendrick was announced as the halftime show headliner last year, the Young Money legend expressed his disappointment at being passed over for the gig, which he had openly coveted, and did not congratulate his \u201cMona Lisa\u201d collaborator.<\/p>\n<p>The Compton rapper then addressed Weezy\u2019s comments on his latest album <em>GNX<\/em>, rapping: <em>\u201cUsed to bump Tha Carter III, I held my Rollie chain proud \/ Irony, I think my hard work let Lil Wayne down.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>That prompted a prickly response from Wayne, who wrote on <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">social media<\/a>: \u201c\u201cMan wtf I do?! I just be chillin &amp; dey still kome 4 my head. Let\u2019s not take kindness for weakness. Let this giant sleep. I beg u all. No one really wants destruction,not even me but I shall destroy if disturbed. On me. Love.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The New Orleans native later revealed that he spoke to Kendrick on the phone and \u201cwished him all the best and told him he better kill it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He also bizarrely admitted that he had not heard K.Dot\u2019s aforementioned lyrics about him, but shared his initial reaction to them.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe didn\u2019t let me down,\u201d Wayne said in an interview with Skip Bayless. \u201cThere was no explanation that was needed for that. I think I understand those words. His hard work is the reason why he made it there, and obviously that part about letting me down is me just being upset and disappointed about not getting that spot.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to Roc Nation CEO Desiree Perez, Lil Wayne was actually in the running to perform at this year\u2019s Super Bowl before Kendrick was chosen.<\/p>\n<p>She also confirmed that JAY-Z is hands-on in selecting the halftime show performer and defended their decision to go with Kendrick.<\/p>\n<p> \u201cKendrick is the right person for the show at this moment. He\u2019s had an incredible year, very deserving of the attention,\u201d Perez told <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nola.com\/entertainment_life\/keith_spera\/kendrick-lamar-is-right-person-for-super-bowl-lix\/article_011e90f0-dd40-11ef-91d0-3ba41f8ff0b5.html\" target=\"_blank\">NOLA.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Grammys also acknowledged that. That\u2019s part of the consideration for the halftime show.
