Kendrick Lamar has revealed the biggest \u201cmisconception\u201d about himself in a rare (and somewhat random) interview with actor Timoth\u00e9e Chalamet.<\/p>\n
The two superstars sat down for a conversation ahead of Kendrick\u2019s historic Super Bowl halftime show this weekend, and spoke about their respective app<\/a>roaches to their crafts.<\/p>\n AD LOADING…<\/p>\n<\/div>\n A short video of the insightful chat, released on Friday (February 7), found the Compton rapper opening up about his creative process in the studio.<\/p>\n \u201cThat\u2019s probably one of the biggest misconceptions about me as an artist. I\u2019m always locked in and I\u2019m always trying new things. Now, whether or not I like them [laughs] is a whole other conversation,\u201d he said while cruising with Chalamet in a 1987 Buick Grand National, which he named his latest album, GNX<\/em>, after.<\/p>\n \u201cBut I have to keep the pen moving. It\u2019s my form of sanity. And it also has given me the opportunity to learn myself \u2014 you know, find out who I am. Because when you write, you have to sit and go through the emotions and be vulnerable about it, whether it\u2019s a fun song or a sad song or it got some type of depth.<\/p>\n \u201cThis is your personality pushing through. And so a lot of these records I write, it\u2019s stuff I probably would never express or even know about myself if it wasn\u2019t for an instrumental behind it.\u201d<\/p>\n Kendrick also spoke about his love for GNX<\/em> cut \u201cMan at the Garden,\u201d<\/a> calling it the \u201ceasiest\u201d song he has written.<\/p>\n \u201cWith my projects, there\u2019s always that one record that I want everyone to hear in order to push the narrative and the message and the tone that I want to get across,\u201d he explained. \u201cThat\u2019s why I like \u2018Man at the Garden.\u2019 Even the fact that it\u2019s at the top of the record.\u201d<\/p>\n He added: \u201cI mean every word on that muthafucka, man. That\u2019s probably the easiest record to write.
