\n A business CEO was caught on horrifying video violently tossing around and slapp<\/a>ing his 4-month-old pup \u2014 and cops have now launched an investigation into the incident, reports say.<\/p>\n

Jeffrey Previte, the 46-year-old head of a California environmental-consulting firm, was caught on the disturbing surveillance footage grabbing his pitbull Beachy by the ear and neck as he dragged the pooch into a hallway off the parking garage at his Santa Monica condominium building Aug. 22, the Daily Mail said.<\/p>\n

A worker manning the front desk said he heard the dog crying, prompting him to review the footage.<\/p>\n

\u201cI heard the dog screaming, and when I looked on the camera, I saw [Previte] \u2026 choking and slapping the dog,\u201d the worker told the Mail. \u201cHe even slammed the poor dog against the wall.\u2019\u2019<\/p>\n

The worker said he called Previte and told him he planned on filing a report with the building\u2019s management.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe became irate .. and then he hung up on me,\u2019\u2019 the worker said, adding that Previte \u201capologized the next day.\u2019\u2019<\/p>\n

The employee ended up filing a report with management over the incident, the Mail said.<\/p>\n

Santa Monica cops then posted a statement on Facebook<\/a> on Thursday saying they \u201creceived information regarding a potential animal cruelty incident\u2019\u2019 Sept. 4\u00a0 and launched a probe, Heavy.com said.<\/p>\n

The police said detectives would be working with the local district attorney\u2019s office regarding possible animal-cruelty charges. The cops did not respond to a Post request for comment Friday.<\/p>\n

Previte, the head of EBI Consulting, was unable to be reached by The Post on Friday.<\/p>\n

But he did not deny to the Mail what was on the video, although he accused the building worker of trying to extort him over it.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think this is very unfortunate that this has come across your desk. I don\u2019t even know exactly what to say, but I will say this,\u2019\u2019 Previte told the outlet.<\/p>\n

\u201c[The concierge] called me the evening of this interaction with my dog, and that was at nine o\u2019 clock at night, and he attempted to extort money from me so that he wouldn\u2019t report it to the building.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s nothing illegal about what I did,\u2019\u2019 Previte said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI said [to the worker], \u2018If you need to tell the building, tell the building. \u201d<\/p>\n

Previte\u2019s father, Frank Previte, who founded the company, told TMZ that EBI has launched its own investigation into the incident and that Jeffrey could be disciplined. The dad said he had spoken to his son but wouldn\u2019t talk about their conversation.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the building\u2019s management told the Mail in a statement, \u201cThe apparent conduct of the unit owner was abhorrent and completely unacceptable.<\/p>\n
