Sign up now!<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Unlike GPS, ToF systems don\u2019t rely on satellites.\u00a0Instead, they measure the time it takes a signal to\u00a0between a transmitter and a target.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In Sine\u2019s framework, the calculations come from a communication module for drones.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Smaller than a playing card, the module shares signals with a ground station and two beacons. It then measures how long the signals take to <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/trip-and-travel\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"10\" title=\"Trip &amp; Travel\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">travel<\/a>. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As the beacons and ground station have known, static coordinates, the software can precisely determine a drone\u2019s coordinates. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">And because the module runs on multiple bandwidths, the aircraft can elude jamming that targets specific frequencies.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Crucially, the system is also relatively cheap. By providing affordable accuracy, Sine plans to accelerate Ukraine\u2019s transition to autonomous drones.<\/p>\n<p>The country\u2019s armed forces have backed the plans. Already, they have deployed Sine\u2019s module in military operations.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"New_route_for_drones\"><\/span>New route for drones<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">According to Sine, the system is already active in intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The next target is first-person view (FPV) drones <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2014 cheap but effective aircraft equipped with cameras that send footage to remote pilots.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Testing on the FPVs began last month.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cWe expect battlefield deployment in the near future,\u201d Andriy Chulyk, Sine\u2019s CEO and co-founder, told TNW via email.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Alongside autonomous FPVs, <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Chulyk<\/span> plans to support swarm operations. \u201cOur <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/technology\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"4\" title=\"Technology\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">technology<\/a> enables coordinated flights of multiple drones, allowing them to operate as cohesive units,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Yet autonomy is not the sole objective. As the aerial combat evolved, the startup began exploring new navigation systems.<\/p>\n<p>Due to widespread jamming and spoofing, GPS had become a critical vulnerability. At the same time, cheap FPV drones were transforming the battlefields. Yet their positioning systems lacked sophistication.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sine\u2019s founders decided to build an affordable upgrade. <\/span><\/p>\n<p>Their invention promises to improve navigation, expand autonomy, and evade electronic warfare.<\/p>\n<p>In Chulyk\u2019s view, such enhancements are becoming essential.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cWithout reliable navigation capabilities, the transition to autonomous operations \u2014 necessary for true scalability \u2014 remains out of reach,\u201d he said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cThis creates a critical capability gap in modern warfare, where the ability to deploy large numbers of autonomous platforms could provide decisive advantages.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<blockquote><p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">If you liked the article, do not forget to share it with your friends.
