The book has long been considered to be virtually unfilmable \u2013 but that hasn\u2019t stopped multiple directors from trying over the years. Alejandro Jodorowsky gave it a shot but couldn\u2019t get it over the finish line (as detailed in the 2014 documentary <em>Jodorowsky\u2019s Dune<\/em>), while David Lynch actually succeeded in bringing the story to the big screen in 1984. (The movie was a box office bomb, but at least he finished it!)<\/p>\n<p>In the wake of the excellent new trailer, someone has created a video which places the new\u00a0<em>Dune<\/em> trailer side by side with similar shots from Lynch\u2019s version of the story. Check out the comparison below.<br \/><\/br><span id=\"more-636096\"><\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Dune_Trailer_Side_By_Side_Comparison\"><\/span>Dune Trailer Side By Side Comparison<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen=\"\" frameborder=\"0\" height=\"416\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/CcZPZGq3Zy8?feature=oembed\" width=\"740\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>If you\u2019d like a crystal clear example of how far <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/technology\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"4\" title=\"Technology\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">technology<\/a> has come over the past thirty five years, look no further than the juxtaposition between the training\/sparring sessions between Paul Atreides and Gurney Halleck in these two <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/watch-movies-tv-seriess\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"8\" title=\"Watch Movies &amp; TV Series\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">movies<\/a>. The new movie gives the two of them virtual body shields that cling to their profiles, while Lynch\u2019s version \u2013 whether through aesthetic choice, technological limitations, or a combination of both \u2013 encased its actors in clunky looking glass blocks. Otherwise, I was slightly surprised to see just how many similar shots were featured in Lynch\u2019s version \u2013 not bad, considering the era.<\/p>\n<p><em>Dune<\/em> is a famously dense novel, and it\u2019s easy to see why it\u2019s been so tough for filmmakers to adapt. Even this new version won\u2019t be able to do it in just one film \u2013 Villeneuve plans to make at least one sequel to finish the adaptation.
