\n\tReese Witherspoon is ready to pass the pink baton to a new Elle Woods. <\/p>\n

\n\tThe actress took to Instagram on Thursday to announce that Lexi Minetree has been cast as Elle Woods in the upcoming Legally Blonde <\/em>prequel series<\/a> Elle<\/em>, which will follow Woods during her high school years before she went off to Harvard.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cAllow me to introduce you to the new Elle Woods! After watching so many incredible auditions for the new Elle prequel series on\u00a0@PrimeVideo, we finally found our Elle. And today, I got to break the news<\/a> myself,\u201d Witherspoon captioned the post. <\/p>\n

\n\tIn the video (below), Witherspoon is shown speaking with Minetree before telling her the exciting news.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cWe had to make a really hard decision the other day and we wanted to tell you in person because you\u2019ve just worked really hard. And we just wanted to tell you that you don\u2019t have to audition anymore because you got the part. You\u2019re Elle Woods,\u201d Witherspoon said. <\/p>\n

\n\tMinetree is then showing crying and immedia<\/a>tely wanting to call her mom to tell her the news. <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cWhen I saw her tape I was like, \u2018Are we the same person?’\u201d Witherspoon quipped to Minetree\u2019s mom after her mom told her that they sounded alike. <\/p>\n

\n\tWitherspoon, who originated the role in the 2001 movie\u00a0Legally Blonde<\/em>\u00a0and its 2003 sequel, has been candid about her search to pick the new Elle Woods. <\/p>\n

\n\tWhile app<\/a>earing on\u00a0The\u00a0Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon<\/em>, Witherspoon had shared that it has been \u201cso fun to watch\u201d all the audition tapes, adding, \u201cI just love them all so much and they\u2019re doing such a good job.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tWitherspoon will exec produce the upcoming series via her Hello Sunshine banner. Series creator and showrunner Laura Kittrell is also executive producing, along with Hello Sunshine\u2019s Lauren Neustadter and Lauren Kisilevsky, and Marc Platt, producer of the\u00a0Legally Blonde<\/em>\u00a0films.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
