The team will be responsible for developing humanoid robotics hardware, potentially including hardware that can perform household chores.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Meta\u2019s new robotics group, which will be led by Marc Whitten, driverless car startup Cruise\u2019s former CEO, will also create robotic software and AI, according to Bloomberg\u2019s reporting. Whitten has also had stints at Amazon, Microsoft, and Sonos, <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/marcwhitten\">according to his LinkedIn profile<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To be clear, Meta\u2019s plan isn\u2019t to build a Meta-branded robot \u2014 at least not initially. Rather, Meta executives including CTO Andrew Bosworth believe the company has an opportunity to build a hardware foundation for the rest of the robotics market, per Bloomberg \u2014 similar to what Google accomplished with its Android operating system in the smartphone sector.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Bloomberg reports that Meta has also entered into discussions with robotics companies, including Unitree Robotics and Figure AI, to possibly partner on prototypes.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<blockquote><p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">If you liked the article, do not forget to share it with your friends.
